SPECIAL NOTES:
A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in accounting, finance, or other business-related field is preferred.
Additional preferences:
- Two (2) years of professional experience in accounting, auditing, and analyzing governmental financial statements
- Reviewing and analyzing State Agency contracts and agency agreements.
- Experience conducting audits.
- Professional experience in applying and interpreting laws, rules, and agency policies.
- Experience with management studies, program procedures, and assigned special projects.
- Microsoft experience (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, ect.)
Employees of the Department of Financial Services are paid on a monthly pay cycle.
This position requires a security background check, including fingerprint as a condition of employment.

Minimum Qualifications for this position include the following REQUIRED ENTRY LEVEL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of accounting and auditing principles and procedures.
- Ability to identify, understand, and evaluate agency documentation for contracts, grant agreements, and related disbursements.
- Ability to research, understand, and apply Florida Statutes, administrative rules, policies and procedures, and other guidelines governing agency contracts, grant agreements, and related disbursements.
- Ability to independently plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments.
- Ability to establish and maintain professional and effective relationships.
- Ability to effectively communicate information verbally and in writing to individuals or groups.
- Ability to utilize problem-solving techniques.
- Ability to conduct fact-finding research.
- Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language, including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office software – Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
This position requires professional accounting work involving the independent application of governmental accounting techniques, auditing concepts and financial reporting skills in accordance with generally accept accounting principles (GAAP), and Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS).
This position is responsible for evaluating state agency contracts and grant agreements and related deliverables monitoring processes.
Provides written summaries and reports that document the work performed, communicate the review results, and identify noncompliance with contract and grant management guidelines and improvements needed in deliverables monitoring process.
Performs management studies of state entities, programs, and processes. Completes assigned special projects and communicates the results to management.
Performs research, analyzes problems, and develops recommendations for operational and workflow changes.
Assists state entities in improving management processes and operational procedures.
