The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
Position Summary
Reporting to the Associate Director of Graduate Admissions, the Graduate Admissions Officer is responsible for leading graduate recruitment events, hosting on and off campus events, and participating in admissions operations. The Graduate Admissions Officer is also responsible for developing marketing and recruitment materials, including social media campaigns, for graduate programs and planning diversity recruitment. The Graduate Admissions Officer will also play an active role in reviewing graduate applications for Columbia Engineering programs.
Responsibilities
- (45%) Graduate Admissions and Recruitment:
• Leads and plans graduate recruitment including participating in on-campus and off-campus recruitment events; manages the recruitment calendar; liaises with internal and external organizations to host information sessions and events. Will travel domestically and internationally to promote graduate engineering programs on behalf of the School. Develops marketing and recruitment materials including social media campaigns; facilitates on-campus and virtual information sessions to promote graduate programs; and manages the prospect database and outreach.
• Prepares ad-hoc admission and enrollment reports as needed for annual surveys, grant applications, and other data reporting needs. - (30%) Admissions Operations and Review:
• Manages the application processing and review under the guidance of the Associate Director of Graduate Admissions: duties include but are not limited to the coordination of application management; analyzing applicant data; importing and exporting applicant data into the online application system; verifying credentials of admitted students; analyze and communicate admissions decisions via email and telephone, communicating admissions policies and procedures; reviewing applications; and serving as an admission liaison to academic departments. - (15%) Event Hosting and Management:
• Plans and implements on-campus events (e.g., Women in Science and Engineering (WISE), Engineering Achievers in Graduate Education (EngAGE), etc.), on-campus information sessions, etc. Will also be responsible for meeting with prospective students on-campus, managing the on-campus tour program, and facilitating a positive visit experience for guests. - (10%) Performs related duties and responsibilities as assigned/requested.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree and/or its equivalent required.
- Minimum 2-3 years of related experience required.
- Experience with a CRM and/or application system preferred.
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
- Strong judgment and excellent people management skills
- Strong background and proven record in execution and problem solving
- Must be dependable in terms of producing appropriate communications and record keeping.
- Familiarity with social media marketing; must be a team player and self- starter; and must be willing to travel and work on occasional weekends
