The Opportunity:
The Graphic Design Specialist II is responsible for the artistic direction and production of communications and media for the College of Graduate Studies, as needed. Communication and media channels include websites, web applications, content management systems, customer relationship management systems, events, displays and exhibits, presentations, printed collateral, advertisements, social media, video, photography, and related applications. This position will also oversee a team of one to two part-time OPS Design Assistants.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides artistic direction and production of all communications and media including annual reports, displays and exhibits, presentations, events, printed collateral, videos, advertisements, etc. Includes overseeing one to two design assistants’ work.
  • Provides artistic direction and production for websites, web applications, content management systems, and customer relationship management systems.
  • Collaborates with clients to define needs and concepts and then develops and produces all related artwork, layouts, and designs as required for the production of publications promoting graduate education at the University of Central Florida. In coordination with IT and functional staff, designs and implements web interfaces for College applications used for funding, admissions, student services, postdoc, and grad council.
  • Recommends and applies graphic standards for the College of Graduate Studies. Designs, develops, programs, tests, and manages websites and multimedia/web applications, using current technologies. Visually represents ideas using tools such as Photoshop, InDesign, After Effects, Flash, Illustrator, PowerPoint, Keynote, Adobe Creative Suite, etc. Ensures University of Central Florida branding protocol and best practices are followed.
  • Conducts research and recommends new technologies and design approaches. Supports communications as requested when the Multimedia Services Manager (Interim Director) is out of the office.
  • Assists in complying with university policy and legislation for publications (American Disability Act [Section 508], UCF Graphic Standards, University Web Policy, etc.).
  • Consults and coordinates closely with deans and directors and with IT staff, other offices (including Printing Services, Marketing, and CDL), and vendors in order to define specifications, develop concepts, determine design and production milestones, and produce final products.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree and 2+ years of relevant experience.

  • Adobe Creative Suite – Intermediate skill level
  • Photoshop – Basic skill level
  • Microsoft Suite – Basic skill level
  • Video Editing – Basic skill level
  • Photography – Basic skill level
  • Web Design – Basic skill level
