Pratt Institute’s Communications and Marketing division seeks a Graphic Designer who will be a key member of the Creative Services team. The Graphic Designer, under the supervision of the Creative Director and Assistant Creative Director, will work in collaboration with our writing, digital, marketing, and client services teams to produce attractive, user-centric, innovative designs for integrated, multi-platform use across Pratt’s Web, digital, and print media.
This is a hybrid work position that occasionally requires purposeful, on-campus presence.
Typical work day would include the following responsibilities:
- Assists the Creative Services team in applying the Pratt brand across projects for various departments of the Institute.
- Collaborate with editors, writers, photographers, videographers, content developers, to build multi-platform communication strategies that continue to strengthen the Pratt brand.
- Create print and digital materials for various stakeholders across the institute, including, but not limited to: posters, invitations, exhibition and event materials, websites, email templates, social media campaigns, and motion graphics.
- Effectively communicate design concepts to supervisors and client departments.
- Prepare files and print specifications for vendors.
- Understand and work within Pratt’s visual identity standards.
- Work with front end developers to build websites and online experiences.
- Assist in the management of student interns.
Salary Range: $65K – $70K + Generous Benefits
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Communication Design or related field or equivalent experience is required.
Experience: 2+ years of experience designing print and digital projects, in-house or at an agency.

- Exceptional concept, design, and typography skills.
- Exceptional communication, presentation, and organizational skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment, while ensuring quality and timeliness.
- Works well collaboratively, as well as independently.
- Understands the value of critique, and knows when to defend design concepts.
- Familiar with Human Centered Design principles and has the empathic ability to understand the experiences, needs, and desires of intended audiences.
- Expertise in Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, After Effects. Familiarity with Sketch is a plus.
- Experience with UX design for mobile/web/digital platforms.
- Familiarity with HTML, CSS, JavaScript.
- Familiarity with higher education and art institutions is a plus.
