Job Description Summary
Under the direction of the Collections Manger of the Escalette Collection Permanent Art Collection, an academic unit of Wilkinson College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences, the Graphic Designer will assist with a range of graphic design projects including creating object labels, designing exhibition didactics, working with printers to prepare projects for print on various materials, creating installation mock-ups, and designing flyers and other promotional material as needed. The successful candidate will be able to work within brand guidelines while also working collaboratively with the Escalette Collection team to develop creative visual strategies.
Responsibilities
- Design didactics ranging from titles, interactive components, and extended object labels for exhibitions throughout campus according to best practices established by the American Alliance of Museums (AAM)
- Ensure all designs are consistent with Escalette Collection brand guidelines.
- Coordinate with printers to prepare files for print on various materials.
- Create floorplans and mock-ups of installations in collaboration with the Collections Manager.
- Create marketing materials for events and social media posts as needed.
- Edit photographs of artworks and installations.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Professional, dependable, organized, and able to multi-task
- Strong knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles
- Creative problem solving and adaptability in developing new ideas
- Ability to work well and quickly under pressure, both individually and as a part of a team.
- Interest in exhibition design and the desire to explore this interest in a professional setting.
- Excellent project management skills to consistently meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite.
