Summary

The Digital Media Commons (DMC) in the James and Anne Duderstadt Center (DC) at the University of Michigan (U-M) is hiring a part time interviewer to develop an internal program.

Responsibilities*

Under the direction of the Student Program Manager, the Ground Connections Program Assistant will develop learning materials and experiences to help undergraduate student staff members (GC Fellows) acquire knowledge, skills and competencies to support the Duderstadt Galleries and Design Labs. The following responsibilities will be carried out in close collaboration with the Gallery and Design Lab managers and with student staff members.

  • Identify the Duderstadt Gallery and Design Lab learning goals and objectives from a management perspective
  • Analyze needs of learners
  • Develop an outline for a multi-level learning experience for each above space that meets the program goals
  • Design, develop and evaluate up to 2 levels of material through an iterative process, involving student staff as participant designers
  • Assist student staff in creating sustainable, effective gallery management practices for the CCA Gallery, a student-managed exhibition space for student art

The Program Assistant will also assist the Student Program Manager in evaluating and improving the overall GC Student Fellowship program’s operations, including communication practices, onboarding and training materials, and work policies. This will include attendance at weekly meetings with the Student Program Manager and leading student staff members to review student program operations, vision, and goals.

Required Qualifications*

  • 1 year experience or equivalent education in art gallery administration
  • Bachelor’s degree in Art & Design, History of Art, Museum Studies, or related field
  • Familiarity with the Digital Media Commons’ spaces, resources, and programs or similar facilities
  • Experience working in a collaborative environment
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
