Software Developer Lead

Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking to identify highly motivated and qualified individuals for various future opportunities. We are currently seeking a Software Developer Lead

Our team supports technical solutions associated with the collection, processing, and exploitation of assured, relevant, and timely oceanographic, meteorological, hydrographic, precise time and astrometric information for the Commander, Naval Meteorology and Oceanography Command (CNMOC). Candidates who join our team play an integral role in the design, development, and innovative modernization of the IT infrastructure used to provide meteorology and oceanography support to warfighters afloat and ashore. We will maintain, upgrade, and modernize the IT infrastructure to include engineering, software development, administration, and data management.

Must be a US Citizen and hold a DoD Secret clearance, Top Secret clearance preferred

This is a hybrid on site/telework environment.

Candidates must be within a commutable distance from the primary physical location they are hired for.

This work includes but is not limited to:

  • Lead a team responsible for the work outlined below while also being a hands-on contributor.
  • Architect and define core technologies for web services and supporting systems.
  • Formulate and define system scope, objectives, and detailed specifications.
  • Design, code, test, debug, maintain, and document software and containerized architectures in cloud and on-prem environments.
  • Develop code modifications as required in response to patches/updates in software components such as databases, web application servers, operating systems and languages/libraries used in software development.
  • Maintain technical knowledge and responsibility of all phases of analysis and development.
  • Instruct, direct, monitor, and check the quality assurance of products.
  • Identify and document stakeholder requirements translated into functional, performance, and technical requirements.
  • Develop requirements, track requirement changes, and maintain traceability of end-user needs to the system performance specification and delivered capability.
  • Support integration planning and interface management by documenting internal and external interface requirements and dependencies.
  • Support verification activities during requirements analysis including how each requirement is verified, the tasks and resources to complete the verification matrix, and supporting documentation.
  • Re-engineer existing applications to use cloud services.
  • Design, implement, and maintain continuous integration and continuous delivery solutions.
  • Perform cybersecurity sustainment activities for DoD software and middleware.
  • Implement configuration, security, and engineering standards to improve interoperability of data, products, and applications.
  • Create work products such as entity relationship diagrams, data flow diagrams, structure charts, data structure diagrams, and pseudo code.
  • Use systematic, disciplined, and quantifiable engineering practices during the development and maintenance of cyber secure and STIG compliant software.
  • Implement or integrate software with logging and application monitoring solutions as specified.

Qualifications

  • BS 8-10, MS 6-8, PhD 3-5
  • Hold an active/current DoD Secret clearance, Top Secret clearance preferred
  • 3+ years managing and supervising a geographically dispersed workforce
  • 7+ years in one or more of the following languages: Java, C#, .Net, Python, Ruby, Perl, Fortran, JavaScript
  • Working in agile, software development, and production environment
  • Systems analysis, development, and implementation using a variety of technologies
  • Programming in a continuous integration environment
  • Web vulnerability testing
  • Software testing/verification
  • Developing and programming applications designed to run in a web environment
  • Working with one or more of the following Operating Systems:
    • Microsoft Windows, Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)
  • Working with one or more of the following Databases:
    • PostgreSQL, Oracle, MS SQL Server, PostGIS, MySQL
  • Ability to develop applications supported on-prem and in the cloud, including understanding application dependency on operating system, network, web-based, and cloud technologies.

Desired Experience:

  • Working with one or more of the following: GeoServer, ESRI ArcServer, ESRI Spatial Database Engine (SDE), REST API, Service Oriented Architecture
  • Shell scripting in a Linux operating environment
  • Geospatial database design, maintenance, and administration
  • Evaluation of compliance with security and metadata standards
  • Developing in a High-Performance Computing environment
  • Knowledge of Risk Management Framework
  • Designing, implementing, and maintaining containerized architectures
  • Experience developing within common cloud providers
  • Digital modernization efforts to meet net-centric and data-centric objectives
  • DoD Architecture Framework (DODAF) experience
  • Tasking, Collections, Processing, Exploitation, Dissemination (TCPED) process
  • Battlespace on Demand (BonD) process
  • FNMOC Come and Get It Product Services (CAGIPS) database
  • Working with one or more of the following application/Web Servers:
    • Red Hat Enterprise Application Platform (EAP), Apache Tomcat, Apache HTTP Server, Wildfly, Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS)
  • Working with one or more of the following other Services/Software:
    • Podman, AWS EC2, AWS ECS, Jenkins, Kubernetes, Git, BitBucket, Atlassian Software Suite, Ansible

Target Salary Range

$66,000 – $106,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
