DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF WORK
HOURS: 10 to 25 hours per week; day, evening and weekend shifts
MINIMUM AGE: Must be at least 16 years of age
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Employees are responsible for assisting in supervising the gym and fitness areas, running track area and rock-climbing wall. An employee in this position is also responsible or assisting in maintaining cleanliness and enforcing rules throughout the facility.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintains order in the gym area.
- Enforces the rules of the facility with social responsibility.
- Issues equipment, cleans machines and equipment and keeps supplies in storage areas stocked.
- Follows established guidelines, policies and procedures
- Set-up equipment necessary for a variety of activities and returns equipment to proper place.
- Reports problems and notifies Gym Supervisor of equipment that is out of order.
- Attends meetings.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Considerable knowledge of Dearborn Recreation & Parks Department programs and policies.
- Ability to lead, instruct and advise individuals participating in programs.
- Ability to speak and work with the public while providing exemplary customer service.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective and cooperative relationships with other employees, program participants and the general public.
- Ability to perform duties while standing or walking the entire shift.
- Ability to move and set up equipment that could weigh 50 pounds or more.
- Reliable transportation is required.
EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING/LICENSING REQUIREMENTS
POST-EMPLOYMENT OFFER REQUIREMENTS:
Satisfactory completion of background check and a pre-employment physical and drug screen that tests for illegal drugs as defined by the Federal Drug Free Workplace Act but not those legalized under Michigan law required if chosen candidate is not already a full-time employee.
Part Time employees are not eligible for City provided health and welfare benefits.
