Venturi, LLC, a Chenega company, has an exciting career opportunity for a Hardware Engineer II who will collaborate on the next generation of space access vehicles at one of the World’s Premier Gateways to Space! Venturi employees open portals to space by providing operation and sustainment of mission-critical systems that launch and track Department of Defense, civil, commercial, and international space launch rockets. We also provide U.S. defense and space awareness through ballistic missile testing, guided weapon and aeronautical tests, and experiments to defend the United States to ensure our nation’s safety.

As a member of the Sustaining Engineering team, you would join other smart, talented, and resolute engineers who pride themselves on analyzing the most difficult challenges for the launch-test range while developing and delivering solutions to meet the needs of the US Space Force and its customer.

The Hardware Engineer II will perform engineering functions to design, develop, modify, integrate, and test new subsystems on mono-pulse tracking radars on the Western Test Range at Vandenberg Space Force Base. The Hardware Engineer II will lead an engineering team with the technical aspects of projects and the supporting multi-disciplined project teams.

This position may be eligible for a hybrid telecommuting schedule after the initial training period is complete.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, modify, and implement new and/or existing capabilities for support hardware
  • Perform system modeling, simulation, and analysis to provide the most appropriate technical
  • Support testing to qualify hardware systems for Range
  • Plan, conduct, and assist in the execution of engineering
  • Coordinate with technical support personnel on assigned
  • Analyze, develop, recommend, and implement approaches to meet
  • Evaluate component suppliers and vendor capabilities.
  • Provide leadership and work guidance to less experienced
  • Assist with problematic repairs of Line Replaceable Units (LRUs).
  • Provide engineering assistance to restore operational
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related technical major in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math
  • 2+ years of relevant engineering experience required, 3+years preferred
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license required
  • Interim Secret clearance required with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Proficient in working with Windows-based computer Systems and M/S Office tool suite
  • Proficient with digital interface design, including familiarization with interface modules, cable/wire types, and connector
  • Fundamental knowledge of hardware systems integration and testing practices.
  • Experience in the configuring of Ethernet switches and network protocols.
  • Experience providing inputs to complex project proposals within defined time constraints involving multi-discipline teams.
  • Proficient in the use of specialized test equipment including but not limited to VOMs, spectrum analyzers, and oscilloscopes.
  • Familiarization with computer systems including single board (SBCs), servers, and workstations.
  • Familiarization with the Linux and Windows Operating systems.
  • Ability to lift 30 lbs.
  • Some travel may be required (less than 10%).
  • The flexibility to work occasional non-duty hours or on weekends to support specific project or mission requirements.
  • Proficient in reading, understanding, creating, or modifying wire diagrams, schematics, and mechanical drawings using CAD or other drawing packages.
  • Proficient in technical writing for the development of technical reports, white papers, and other technical support documentation.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate technical issues verbally and through written media such as graphical slides and verbal presentations to contract management and customers.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to effectively manage competing demands, prioritize appropriately, and oversee multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to work independently and in a collaborative environment is essential.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
