Head, External Engagement & Public Affairs – North America

Job Description

2023 will potentially see Sandoz become a standalone organization! Already a global market leader in Generics and Biosimilar medicine, this is an exciting, once-in-a-career opportunity to set our own path forward as an independent, purpose-driven organization, and as the founders of a new Sandoz, this is a time of immense opportunity for us all, both professionally and personally!
Together we will shape the future of Sandoz… are you ready to make a difference?

As the Head, Public Affairs & External Engagement – North America, you will be responsible for elevating the Sandoz leadership position in biosimilars and generics amongst key US and Canadian stakeholders (government officials, advocacy organizations, payers, trade associations, third party alliances) and build trust in Sandoz as the leading most valued generics and biosimilars company. You will work directly with Policy, Federal and State Engagement, Patient Advocacy, Strategic Alliances, Corporate Communications and other functions to create strategies to advocate for Sandoz positions and foster relationships that support patient access to medicines and showcase the value of generics and biosimilars for patients and the US and Canadian healthcare systems. On a global level, you will support global initiatives and work closely with Global Public Affairs and External Engagement to ensure consistent voice, supportive strategy and execution.

Your additional responsibilities include, but not limited to:
• Take complex issues and information, assess the impact on our business, and identify solutions and leadership positions.

• Evaluate the potential for the patients who rely on our medicines and create coordinated public affairs and alliance strategies with clear objectives and measurable impact aligned with our business goals.
• Prioritize to ensure we’re focused on the issues that matter most and areas we can have the greatest impact. Assess and develop positions and novel solutions to help shape our future environment and prepare the market for biosimilars and our future portfolio.
• Work closely with the Corporate Affairs team members, engage external stakeholders (i.e., lawmakers, advocacy allies, media, gov’t agencies) on priorities and issues – educating on our contributions and perspectives in support of our objectives.
• Amplify and build credibility for our perspective by mobilizing stakeholders (i.e., trade associations, advocacy, third party alliances, global trade associations) who can demonstrate support.
• Serve as leader in industry trade associations to help drive company strategy.
• Collaborate closely with the Global Public Affairs and External Engagement team on global initiatives and associations to ensure consistency in effort and messaging, maximizing influence and impact.
• Conduct briefings with the Sandoz business leaders and commercial units on US issues to help shape proactive and reactive strategies for the company.
