Head of Music Industry & Content Data Insights, Science & Analytics , Amazon Music DISCO

The Data Insights, Science and Optimization (DISCO) team is looking for a talented Research Science Manager to lead a science and business intelligence team at Amazon Music.

You will lead a team of data scientists, analysts, and engineers working closely with our Music Industry teams to drive the growth of Amazon Music. We use survey research, machine learning, experimentation and causal modeling to drive insights, uncover new opportunities, support evidence-based decision-making, and link product improvements to their impact on customer engagement. Your team will build the core intelligence, insights, machine learning models for the Music Industry & Content organizations. You will set the team vision, strategy and roadmap while partnering with our marketing teams to achieve goals.

We’re looking for someone with strong stakeholder management skills who has a track record of leading teams to deliver science-based solutions. You are equally comfortable discussing technical details with engineers and marketers and reviewing project outcomes with senior leadership. You can synthesize results and concisely communicate insights and recommendations to audiences of varying levels of technical sophistication.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

– MS degree in Business, Economics, Statistics, Data Science, Data Mining, or other quantitative field.

– 8+ years of experience in Analytics, Data Science Business Intelligence or other quantitative disciplines and a degree in statistics, economics, mathematics, or similar quantitative discipline.

– 4+ years of analytical people management experience.

– Deep experience developing successful analytics-based solutions to business problems.

– Expertise in estimation, experimental design, hypothesis and A/B testing.

– Familiarity with probability, probability distributions, statistics and causal inference.

– Knowledge of various machine learning techniques and key parameters that affect their performance.

– Knowledge of data warehouse concepts.

– Experience with AWS services.

– Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

– Experience with data scripting languages (e.g. SQL, Python, R) or statistical/mathematical software (e.g. R, SAS, or Matlab).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

– Ph.D. in Science, Engineering, Economics, Statistics or other quantitative fields.

– Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills (both written and verbal).

– Demonstrated leadership abilities, especially with cross-disciplinary efforts.

– Project management experience.

– Experience with data engineering and Big Data processing.

– Professional experience in software development (software design and development life cycle).

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $166,700/year in our lowest geographic market up to $324,100/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
