The Role

Fidelity’s Personal Investing’s Spend and Save (S&S) business acquires, engages, and grows customers with innovative offerings, experiences and products include Lending, Credit and Debit Cards, Heath Savings, 529 College Savings and Cash Management Accounts. Our vision is to expand the role Fidelity can play for our customers in this critical area of their finances, by offering innovative capabilities to serve the spending and saving needs of new and existing customers. You will lead a team that focuses on S&S platform enhancements and works closely with other partners across Personal Investing, Fidelity Institutional and Fidelity Brokerage Technology to modernize our tech stack into the cloud. In order to enhance the spending experience for our accounts, this new leader will also work with our Personal Investing digital experience and brokerage operations groups to define PI’s payments strategy and accelerate the introduction of modern payment capabilities to our accounts.

Reporting directly to the Head of Personal Spending & Saving Solutions, this leader will be a key member of the domain’s leadership team and will partner closely with leadership and teams across the Fidelity. As the Head of Spend & Save Platform Capabilities, you will be responsible for:

  • Manage critical platforms underlying the S&S domain solutions such as 529 College Savings, ABLE Accounts, Health Savings Accounts, UTMA, Cash Management Accounts, BillPay, check-writing, FDIC Sweep, etc.
  • Manage and direct the efforts of seven platform squads focused on platform enhancements as well as modernizing our technology stack including moving our platforms to the cloud
  • You will partner with technologists on create leading edge, cloud-based versions of these platforms and work with experience owners to drive adoption of the new versions
  • Execute plan towards modernization of our mainframe platforms, with an objective to complete the move to the Cloud by 2027
  • Support ongoing business vitality initiatives through platform enhancements in collaboration with digital experience squads
  • Collaborate with our Personal Investing digital experience and brokerage operations as well as other groups in OSG, FBT and Enterprise Services to define PI’s payments strategy and accelerate the introduction of modern payment capabilities to S&S solutions to make spending from our accounts easier for our customers
  • Help navigate all the platforms and connection points across PI and other groups across Fidelity and the associated vendors that provide money movement capabilities
  • Identify current money movement processes and pain points or gaps across our domain, and prioritize use cases for money movement improvement opportunities
  • Collaborate with other product areas in the domain and across PI, FBT, OSG, Enterprise Services to design improved experiences and introduce modern payment capabilities to make spending from our accounts easier for our customers.
  • Identify and select the best external/internal capabilities to implement enhancements

You will lead a customer-obsessed team and bring broad executive leadership with an obsession for delivering customer value. You will be responsible for a matrixed, agile organization, and will oversee a group of squads across multiple COEs and Teams oriented around strategic goals, customer segments, experiences, products, and platforms. As a leader, you will maximize value delivered through prioritization, creativity, innovation, collaboration, and decision making. Success will also require collaboration with other leaders across PI and Fidelity, including across product segments, technology, and operations.

In an agile structure, you will partner with other Fidelity leaders to establish product area level strategic priorities based on an understanding of customer needs and enable execution of these priorities by the cross-functional squads aligned to your product area. You will support these squads as they improve value delivered through prioritization, creativity, innovation, collaboration, and decision making and encourage them to work iteratively, innovate through testing and experimentation, and learn from failures while celebrating success. You are committed to developing your own knowledge and bring the latest thinking to your role to empower others with that knowledge.

The Expertise and Skills You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA preferred
  • 15+ years experience working with platform technology teams and in the payments or money movement space; has depth of understanding technology platforms and capabilities that can be built on them to drive business outcomes;
  • Proven success in interpreting leading business indicators and translating them into prioritized platform efforts to deliver business results
  • Experience with Agile and leading multiple teams in a matrixed environment
  • Demonstrated competencies to negotiate and influence at all levels within an organization; both written and verbal communications
  • Senior level experience leading, coaching, mentoring, and developing individuals and teams.
  • Innovative, forward-thinker who quickly understands the context, comfortable challenging the status quo and making tough decisions
  • Excels at building relationships and networks to achieve outcomes; self-aware and adaptable
  • May need to obtain a series 99 license in the future.
