Head of Spend & Save Strategy and Acceleration

The Role

Fidelity’s Personal Investing’s Spend and Save (S&S) business acquires, engages, and grows customers with innovative offerings, experiences and products include Lending, Credit and Debit Cards, Heath Savings, 529 College Savings and Cash Management Accounts. Our vision is to expand the role Fidelity can play for our customers in this critical area of their finances, by offering innovative capabilities to serve the spending and saving needs of new and existing customers. You will lead a team that develops and drives strategy, competitive insights, and business development efforts, working in close partnership with the senior leadership team. This role is specifically responsible for crafting and leading S&S strategy development and strategic planning processes, honing communicating of the strategy, and further developing the mechanisms that build strategic alignment across the leadership team. This role will also lead a squad that is responsible for the innovation and acceleration of the S&S products, and a squad focused on analytics.

Reporting directly to the Head of Personal Spending & Saving Solutions, this leader will be a key member of the domain’s leadership team and will partner closely with leadership and teams across the Fidelity. As part of this leadership role, some key responsibilities will include:

  • Work with the executive team to establish business direction and develop strategies to address client needs and drive revenue growth
  • Play a key role continuously scanning marketplace and competitive landscape to identify and launch the next generation of business initiatives to meet customer demands.
  • Create and deliver a coordinated segmentation and development of business capabilities for the S&S domain
  • Manage and oversee customer research and data analytics to support business initiatives and management processes across the domain products
  • Coordinate and lead strategic business programs critical to the Spend & Save domain and critical to multi-year planning initiatives, from planning to execution
  • Implement and oversee management processes for tracking business performance including establishing goals, prioritization, KPIs, multi-year planning and business reporting
    • Develop and manage domain-wide mechanisms that build strategic alignment, multi year planning and portfolio management
    • Direct acceleration squad efforts to support the execution of key strategic priorities across the domain

The Expertise and Skills You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA strongly preferred
  • 15+ years of general management and strategy experience in financial services and payments industry, ideally within Spend & Save products (e.g. debit/credit cards, 529 plans, Health Savings Accounts, digital banking, cash management, etc)
  • Strategic professional with a successful track record of working in large, sophisticated organizations with senior leadership to build alignment and drive execution
  • Demonstrated competencies to negotiate and influence at all levels within an organization
  • Strong both written and verbal communications and ability to translate business context, challenges and strategy into a compelling story/presentation
  • Proven success in interpreting sophisticated problems, leading business indicators, competitive intel and translating them into practical solutions
  • Successful track record partnering across multiple business units to create alignment and drive execution prioritization
  • Innovative, forward-thinker who quickly understands the context, comfortable challenging the status quo and making tough decisions
  • Strong interpersonal and organization skills including the ability to lead by influence and build relationships at all organization levels
  • Skilled at working with executive leadership team with competing priorities and key dependencies.
  • Holds Series 99 licensing at the time of hiring or is able to obtain it shortly thereafter
