Location: Warming Center, 151 W. 15th Street, Chester, PA
Availability of Position: Immediate (1 position available)
Schedule: Full-time Overnight and weekends; 30 hours per week
Reporting Relationship: Director of Social Services
Salary and Grade: $12.50 per hour; 70 Non-Exempt

Position Overview: The Head Shelter Monitor is responsible for the effective provision and supervision of services in the overnight shelter, which may include on-call support, as well as conducts outreach of homeless individuals and motivates them to participate in the case management program. The case management program helps the homeless individuals to move toward self-sufficiency. The Head Shelter Monitor is responsible to supervise and maintain order at all times as well as to uphold The Salvation Army standards and program policies and procedures while homeless single men and women participate in the overnight service.
Responsibilities
Description of Duties:
Provide and schedule supervision at the Warming Center site in order to ensure a safe place for all guests. Direct clients to shelter location in The Salvation Army gym. Perform written intake of each new client referred to the Warming Center Shelter. Refer clients in need of case management to the Stepping Stone Program. Maintain a daily log and census of shelter clients. Complete written incident reports for any unusual and troubling situations and report them. Immediately report to the supervisor or director any damage to property at shelter location.

Qualifications
Requirements:
College degree in social work preferable. Experience supervising staff preferable. Be able to work in a changing environment. Experience handling individuals with drug and alcohol abuse and mental health issues. Prior residential or customer service work experience preferable. Must be able to read, write and speak well in English. Must have computer skills in Microsoft Word and Excel Programs and be proficient in and the ability to utilize the internet. As a Mandated Reporter, must provide proof of having completed training on recognizing and reporting child abuse meeting the training standards of PA Act 153 of 2014 within 30 days of employment with recurrent training required every five years thereafter. Child Protection Clearances PA Act 153 requires that all prospective employees complete the following clearance and background checks: PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check and FBI Criminal Record/Fingerprint Check. Must have an understanding of and appreciation for the Mission of The Salvation Army.
