Job Description:
This position falls within the employment team of University of Florida Performing Arts. This position supervises the front of house including volunteer ushers to assist with audience needs during events at UF Performing Arts.
Work schedule highly variable depending upon event schedule and will require evening and weekend work, averaging five to fifteen hours per week. Comfortable with non-traditional work schedule and environment. Must be able to stand for extended periods of time, safely lift and carry 25 pounds, and climb 2 flights of stairs.
Work Duties include: Preparing Front of House spaces before audience arrival and returning spaces to normal post-performance. Supervising a team of volunteer ushers; overseeing safety and crowd management during events; greeting patrons and assisting with any issues that arise; training and on boarding new volunteer ushers.
Successful candidate will present strong customer service and leadership skills, with a positive and professional manner. Candidates should enjoy working with the public as a friendly, outgoing, positive team player demonstrating initiative and problem-solving skills. Candidates should feel comfortable responding in the event of an emergency, and keep safety at the forefront of all decisions.
CPR/First Aid certification, and crowd management training to include completion of International Association of Venue Managers Trained Crowd Manager are required and offered at no cost.
Expected Salary:
$16.00-$18.00 commensurate with experience
Minimum Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED Equivalent; Customer Service, Event Services and/or House Management experience required.
Flexible schedule as performances are during the evenings and weekends.
