Permanent Transfer: Current New York State employee with one year or more of permanent or contingent permanent, competitive service as Health Care Surveyor 2 (Nursing) (G20) OR Current NYS employee with one year or permanent or contingent permanent competitive service in a title G18 or higher and meeting the non competitive qualifications listed below.
Non Competitive: Possession of a license and current registration as a registered professional nurse in New York State; and two years of post-licensure, specialized professional administrative or professional clinical experience.
Substitution: a bachelor’s degree in nursing may substitute for one year of post licensure clinical nursing experience; and a master’s degree in nursing may substitute for two years of post-licensure clinical nursing experience.
Preferred Qualifications: The preferred candidate will have knowledge and experience with adverse event reporting systems; familiarity with the review of Root Cause Analysis reports and quality assurance and improvement practices; skill for independently managing compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements; ability to collaborate with partners on review and data report findings; ability to work independently and as part of a team; proficiency with computer databases and software programs; and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Duties Description Intake, review and triage confidential information regarding adverse incidents reported by hospitals and diagnostic and treatment centers; Collaborate with other program staff to make determinations of regulatory compliance and overall quality of care; Consult with providers in the interpretation of state and federal regulations and specific program requirements; Analyze adverse incident reports for trends and develop recommendations for follow-up including the coordination of the development of data reports; Implement protocols, processes, procedures, and tracking systems for adverse event reporting systems, statistical summaries, and data requests. Under supervision of program staff, review and respond to a variety of written material, including Root Cause Analysis (RCA), letters, data reports and other materials.
Additional Comments Posted salary range includes the statutory hiring rate at step 4 and job rate for PS&T Grade 20 ($69,934 – $88,721) and an additional Geographic Pay Differential of $20,000.
