From $43,493 to $86,949*
Position Purpose: To help students learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able, and responsible adults.
Responsibilities:
- Communicates, collaborates, and cooperates with colleagues, supervisors, and students.
- Teaches District approved curriculum.
- Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
- Keeps up to date sub notes available.
- Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
- Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interest of the students.
- Manages student behaviors consistent with the philosophy of the building administrative team.
- Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior in collaboration with building principal to help ensure safety and positive school climate.
- Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and –in harmony with the goals– establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects and the like to communicate these objectives to students.
- Evaluates pupils’ academic and social growth, keeps appropriate and accurate records and prepares progress reports using District-approved software and programs and as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations.
- Is available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day.
- Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.
- Assists the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct, and, for the classroom, develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure, and maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.
- Diagnoses the learning disabilities of students on a regular basis, seeking the assistance of district specialists as required.
- Participate in all mandatory training or training appropriate to the position as required by the district.
- Requires reliable and regular in-person attendance.
Minimum Qualifications:
Traditional Option: A bachelor’s degree or associate degree from an approved institution with appropriate certification in approved field (as accepted by ESPB & DCTE). Examples: Technology & Engineering Education, Construction Management, Industrial Arts, etc.
OR
Alternative Options: Candidate may qualify for provisional certification to teach based on work experience in the construction field with 8,000 hours (approximately 4 years) of verifiable occupational experience. Provisional licensing options include Occupational, Praxis Testing Option, or Alternate Licensing, dependent on the candidate’s education and work experience. License may be granted when the instructor is enrolled in a CTE approved alternative teacher preparation program. Provisional certifications may be renewed annually provided the instructor is continuing to work toward full licensure.
Preferred Qualifications:
Two to three years teaching experience
Demonstrated experience working with diverse populations
