Health communication strategist

Job Summary:

University Health Services is seeking a motivated health communication strategist to join our Marketing & Health Communications team. If you are passionate about health topics that impact college students and enjoy creative problem-solving around effective messaging, this may be the position for you.

The Health Communication Strategist works collaboratively with health providers, practitioners, and communications colleagues to develop evidence-based health communication and marketing campaigns. This individual will work closely with the Prevention and Healthy Campus Initiatives team and campus partners to plan and execute messaging related to the prevention of high-risk drinking, sexual violence, and suicide. Work will also involve the coordination of UHS outreach efforts across UW-Madison.

Responsibilities:

Develops and drafts communication content and assists in the execution of the communications strategy in support of unit communication goals.

  • 15% Monitors reach and effectiveness of communication campaigns, projects, and initiatives
  • 20% Plans editorial content according to established goals and objects
  • 15% Communicates with stakeholders to verify requests and identify editorial resources
  • 30% Writes, edits, and publishes content for various communication projects and marketing platforms to align with strategic initiatives and established communication campaigns
  • 20% Provides project management and execution of communications programs, initiatives, and tactical plans

Education:

Required
Bachelor’s Degree
Preferably in communication, public health, journalism, marketing, health education, or related field.

Qualifications:

Required:
-Minimum of 1-year experience in writing, social media, communications, or producing content for promotional and informational purposes.

Preferred skills/knowledge:
– Strong sense of initiative
– Strong oral and written communication skills
– Well-organized with experience managing multiple priorities and deadlines
– Ability to discuss and communicate sensitive health topics
– Comfortable researching and interviewing students on sensitive health topics
– Ability to think creatively in identifying and solving problems

Work Type:

Full Time: 100%

It is anticipated this position requires work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.

Minimum $50,000 ANNUAL (12 months)
