Job Summary

This position will provide PSE&G Electric Operations’ safety program leadership and implementation by establishing and maintaining industrial health and safety performance and programs for PSE&G Electric Division. Establishes safety & health programs under the direction of the Manager Safety-Electric and provides technical oversight, and guidance to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations pertaining to employee and contractor safety and health. Responsible for overall safety and health management and subject matter expertise; provide advice, guidance and counsel for all levels of management and bargaining unit, local H&S councils and LOB H&S councils, in all areas of health and safety including policies; procedures, standards, incident investigation and H&S system components.

Job Responsibilities

Work with management and represented personnel to identify and mitigate hazards.

Perform field audits, inspections and assessments of safety programs and processes and initiate corrective actions.

Develop and maintain safety and health communications and programs in compliance with company policy.

Develop hazard control methods and programs.

Develop, implement and monitor health and safety training that meets company requirements.

Provide input for OSHA record keeping. Provide timely and effective messages to maintain high awareness levels, reducing hazards and the potential for on-the-job injuries and motor vehicle collisions.

Perform analysis of H&S statistics to keep abreast of timely and accurate reporting and identify improvement opportunities.

Analyze and review existing work procedures to establish new methodologies and procedures to improve business and safety operations.

Responsible and accountable for improvement in health and safety scorecard measures and progress toward top decile Electric Delivery’s H&S performance.

Job Specific Qualifications

Required

BS in Occupational Health and Safety or related field and 6 years experience in a safety role in an industrial setting; or, 10 years exp in utility ops, maint or other safety sensitive area, which must include 2 years supervisory and/or 2 years LOB safety council experience.

Must work varying shifts to support division & field ops, including but not limited to emergencies, storms, and on-call assignments.

Strong leadership, adaptability, decision making, problem solving, teamwork, communications, client/customer satisfaction focus skills

Strong knowledge of OSHA regs and relevant consensus standards i.e. ANSI, ASTM, NFPA, etc.

Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and abie to learn internal Enterprise systems.

Must have valid US drivers’ license.

Desired

CSP,OSHT or CUSP certification

College coursework in the area of Industrial Health and Safety.
