Milliman’s Seattle Health Practice provides consulting services to clients in the healthcare industry including health plans, government payers, providers, and reinsurers. We are looking for data analysts interested in taking responsibility for the healthcare data we regularly use in the work we do on our clients’ behalf. The datasets you will be responsible for represent medical claims and health plan enrollment data covering millions of lives, containing hundreds of millions of records.

Milliman’s Seattle Health Practice serves a wide variety of organizations, including insurance companies, health plans, state and federal agencies, healthcare providers, reinsurance companies, and employers. The staff consists of 150+ actuarial professionals in addition to healthcare consultants, IT, Administrative, and other non-actuarial staff.

You will have the opportunity to:
- Develop analytic processes to provide actionable insights
- Manage our largest healthcare datasets, including
- Develop data structure
- Implementation dashboards, reports and data extracts for use in our client work and product development
- Work with our clients’ data professionals to ensure accurate and efficient data processes
- Reviewing the work of others as part of Milliman’s commitment to high-quality work
- Assist in drafting the technical aspects of written reports and other correspondence
To be successful in this role, you will have the following qualifications:
Professional Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Science, Economics, or related field
- 3+ years of experience working with large (i.e., >10M records) healthcare datasets, especially medical claims and related financial data
- Experience with Excel and SAS
- Extensive knowledge of SAS, SQL, R, or Python
Personal Qualifications:
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
- Willingness and aptitude for detailed work
- Excellent communication skills, written and oral
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Databricks, Azure, and/or AWS
- Working knowledge of C# and/or Java
- Experience with data visualization software (e.g., PowerBI, Tableau)
Location
This position is based out of the Milliman office in Seattle, WA. It is preferred that this employee work in-office, but they can work remotely anywhere in the US.
Compensation
The salary range for this position is $65,500 to $105,000, depending on a combination of factors, including but not limited to education, relevant work experience, qualifications, skills, certifications, location, etc. If overall experience is less than 5 years the range would be $65,500 to $85,000; for experience greater than 5 years, the range would be $65,500 to $105,000. In addition to the base salary, there is a potential for an annual bonus of 20% or higher based upon billable hours and client projects managed.
