Position Summary:
- Under the guidance of the lead man or supervisor, operates the various Heat Treat furnaces and equipment in use by the Company to perform operations such as vacuum solution treating, hardening and stress relieving per blueprints or other specifications. Performs required quality workmanship through the use of precision measuring instruments and special test equipment, such as Rockwell hardness testers. Follows scheduled workflow assignments in order to meet customer demands and production control requirements. Works towards meeting established standards and performance requirements.
Key Position Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Complete Heat Treat operations to print specifications and established performance standards.
- Operates various types of Heat Treat equipment as required for the completion of the various operations necessary. Maintains visual check of work in progress to assure proper equipment function.
- Monitor computer based recording programs to verify processes meet blueprint and/or customer time and temperature requirements.
- Performs quality workmanship through the use of precision measuring instruments such as Rockwell hardness testers.
- Refers to drawings, engineering prints and written instructions to process products to customer / engineering specifications.
- Follows scheduled workflow according to assigned priorities and communicates deviations to department lead.
- Insures that all materials are available prior to initiating production and communicates shortages to department lead.
- Conforms to written instructions and procedures to achieve increased performance in production and quality workmanship.
- Monitors equipment maintenance and adheres to safety regulations.
- Performs other duties as assigned or necessitated by change or condition.
- Must be willing to work overtime as needed.
- Participates in LEAN, 6S and Root Cause analysis activities as required.
- Works as an active team member by participating in problem solving, team building, and all other team activities to improve the processes, productivity, quality,etc. of the production operations in a cell.
- Responsible for conformance of heat treated parts. Visually and/or with measuring instruments checks work performed for proper results.
- Good housekeeping, knowledge of good machine safety is necessary as well as adherence to Company Safety Rules.
- Requires initiative in solving problems associated with the set-up and operation of various types of Heat Treat furnaces and ingenuity in adapting tooling and shop aids to complete treatment operations. Makes suggestions for improving the efficiency of work flow or equipment operation. Takes on or reports for additional work as current tasks are completed. Performs other work related tasks as deemed necessary by Company needs.
Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- High School diploma, equivalent or GED.
- Ability to visually inspect product for cleanliness and surface condition.
- Ability to suggest fixture improvements to Engineering for process/method improvements.
- Ability to fluently read and follow instructions in English.
- Ability to interpret prints and engineering drawings.
- Ability to interpret furnace charts for time and temperature.
- Knowledge of precision measuring instruments and equipment.
- Must read, understand, refer to and interpret Geometric, Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) dimensioning and third view projection blueprints.
Desired Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:
- One to two years of Heat Treat experience.
- Experience in an Aerospace manufacturing environment preferred.
- Knowledge of general furnace operation and basic concepts relating to furnace Pyrometry preferred.
- Bilingual – English and Spanish

- Due to ITAR regulations, this position requires that the employee must be a U.S. Person (U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident) or a Foreign Person for whom a license is obtained.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:
– This is primarily a position that requires employees to stand for 8 hours and grind production parts. This position requires lifting parts up to 35 lbs. and the employee must often bend and reach to load materials on equipment. The employee also moves throughout the building to collect, deliver, and handle production parts.

The pay range represents the low and high end of the salary range we reasonably expect to pay for this position at the time of posting. An employee’s pay position within the salary range will be based on several factors, including, but not limited to, geographic location, experience, education, skills, qualifications, performance, and business or organizational needs. Pay Range: $21 to $24/hour
