Heavy Diesel Mechanic
5:30 am – 6:00 pm
Pay Range: $28.55 to $40.00/hour
Shift Differential: Additional $0.40/hour

Martin Marietta is currently looking for a Diesel Mechanic at the underground mine and surface operations in Kansas City, Missouri. This position is responsible for diagnosis, repair and preventative maintenance of mobile and stationary equipment at our Stamper Mine.
Essential Functions
- Participate in safety programs and trainings, promoting Martin Marietta’s Guardian Angel culture
- Inspect, repair, and maintain equipment to ensure proper operating condition
- Proper utilization of hand tools, precision instruments, and power tools
- Maintain heavy mobile equipment with both gas and diesel engines
- Diagnose equipment faults or malfunctions
- Repair equipment on site
- Weld, solder, recondition and replace parts
Position Type/Expected Hours of WorkThis is a full-time position and will require 40+ hours per week.
Preferred Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Experience with Heavy Equipment Operations
- Welding Experience
- 2-year degree in related field preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Knowledge of MSHA regulations
- Effective verbal communication
- Knowledge of machines and tools including their design, use and maintenance
Physical Abilities
- Ability to work in an outdoor environment year-round
- General physical activities including climbing stairs and ladders, lifting, pushing, pulling, stooping, reach with hands and arms, and handling materials
