The Levy Group of Companies is seeking a Heavy Diesel Truck Mechanic to work at our Stacy Trucking location in Dearborn, MI. The Heavy Diesel Truck Mechanic performs all functions pertaining to the repair and maintenance of tractor and trailer units and inventory controls and processing paperwork.
AFTERNOON SHIFT 3 PM – 11 PM
Pay: $27.05/HR

Responsibilities
The Heavy Truck Mechanic will:
- Maintain and repair various components of tractors and trailers including:
- Engines
- Hydraulics
- Electric components
- Braking Systems
- Drivelines
- Pneumatics
- Operate and inspect tractors and trailers to diagnose defects and locate causes of malfunctions
- Repair, replace, clean, and lubricate parts as necessary
- Examine parts for damage or excessive wear and determining re-usability
- Diagnose and correct electrical problems
- Replace malfunctioning subassemblies and components (e.g. transmissions, clutches, differentials, engines, etc.)
- Weld and fabricate equipment and components (aluminum and steel welding)
- Perform preventive maintenance
- Make recommendations for equipment to be repaired by outside sources
- Requisition parts and equipment
- Perform record keeping and reporting
- Provide general housekeeping to maintain a clean and safe facility
- Other duties as assigned by management
Skills
The ideal candidate will have:
- Ability to Lift up to 50 lbs.
- Up to 5 years’ experience
- Mechanical aptitude
- Knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, braking systems, electrical systems, drivelines, steering mechanisms, and suspensions
- Tier IV Emissions experience
- Ability to bend, kneel, stoop, climb or crawl under or on top of equipment
- Ability to manipulate components in hard-to-reach places with hands or tools
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Valid Driver’s License
- Willingness to perform other duties as assigned.
