VOA searching for a Helpdesk/Tech Support Engineer, who will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our IT systems. This part-time position offers flexible working hours.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:
This is a part-time position with 20 work hours per week. Core work hours for this position will usually take place Monday through Friday, between 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Work schedules may vary and allow for some flexibility. Occasionally, longer work hours may be required, but remain subject to this being a part-time role. These added hours could be required after normal working hours, such as evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The essential functions of the position include, but are not limited to the following:
- Provide timely and effective technical support to VOA employees via phone, email, or in person.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose hardware, software, and network issues, and ensure their resolution.
- Install, configure, and maintain computer systems, software, and peripheral devices.
- Collaborate with the IT team to plan and execute the migration of our IT infrastructure to Azure.
- Assist in documenting IT procedures, processes, and technical specifications.
- Participate in training sessions to enhance your technical knowledge and skills.
- Ensure compliance with VOA’s policies and procedures regarding IT security.
Additional Duties and Responsibilities:
- Performs other related duties as required or assigned.
- Travel as required. Travel is primarily local and during the business day; although very occasional out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected.
- This role has no supervisory responsibilities.

Requirements

Required Education and/or Experience: To perform this job successfully, an individual must have:
- High School Diploma or GED
Certificates and/or Licenses: To perform this job successfully, an individual must:
- Become CPR/First Aid/BBP Certified within 6 months of employment
- Have a valid Driver’s License
- Have the ability to maintain Auto Liability Insurance
- Successfully pass a Comprehensive Criminal History Background Check and Driving Record Review
Preferred Education and/or Experience:
- Education and/or experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree OR in the process of attaining a degree; degree is desirable in business, network architecture, cybersecurity, computer science, or closely related technology field; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Strong technical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Windows Server administration.
- Familiarity with Azure cloud services and migration processes.
- Solid understanding of computer hardware, software, and networking concepts.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of IT security best practices is a plus.

Physical Requirements:
In order to meet all expectations of this position, an individual must be able to:
- Regularly operate a computer with keyboard and mouse, as well as other office equipment. The employee must be able to perceive text and buttons on the computer screen.
- Frequently remain in a stationary position (such as sitting or standing) for long periods of time and to move about inside and outside of the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
- Occasionally ascend and descend stairs, as well as drive from site to site and move between buildings to access various program locations, lift and/or move files, computers, monitors, etc (up to 30 pounds)
Work Conditions:
While performing the essential duties/responsibilities of this job, the employee may experience the following environmental conditions at the frequency indicated:
Noise Conditions: The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate consisting of usual business office sounds including but not limited to computers, printers, telephones, and light traffic.
Heat/Cold: May be subject to heat, cold, wet, and/or humid weather conditions, and occasionally extreme heat and/or cold.
Injury Exposure: Position requires working with standard office equipment such as computers, phones, printers, photocopiers, and filing within cloud based databases (i.e. Google Drive).
Atmospheric Exposures: Typical office environment conditions; may be exposed to various scents and perfumes, less than sanitary or uncomfortable conditions, various pests and pathogens, participants’ service and emotional support animals, as well as participants in physical, mental or emotional distress.
