The High Voltage Operations & Maintenance Manager is responsible for the administration, management and engineering activities related to the high voltage shop and associated electrical systems on the Ohio State University campus and ENGIE operated utility systems. This role ensures the delivery of reliable, cost effective, safe and environmentally sound generation and distribution of electrical utilities; provides system planning, technical support and design reviews for electrical system projects and manages personnel as assigned. The High Voltage Operations & Maintenance Manager may manage capital projects involving campus and utility plant electrical systems.
This position is located in Columbus, OH and will report to the Director of Energy Delivery.
What you’ll do:
- Perform short and long range planning for high voltage and medium voltage utilities
- Develop distribution system modification and expansion plans to anticipate customer needs and assure a safe and very reliable power supply to meet the site’s goal
- Prepare specifications, cost estimates, and funding requests for the electrical distribution system improvements and extensions. Monitor and evaluate system loading patterns and anticipates when system configuration changes will be required to assure reliable service to all service areas
- Review electrical plans and specifications for all new and major renovation projects on site
- Coordinate with other FOD groups within OSU on installation/connection of electrical distribution systems in support of construction/renovation projects
- Develop and review component testing, checkout and commissioning plans
- Update medium and high voltage electrical portion of the site’s Building Design Standards
- Maintain records of electrical loading, including peaks
- Provide administrative oversight, technical direction and advises the Utilities High Voltage Shop Supervisor and Electricians in shop activities including; planning and guiding the operation, maintenance and repair of electrical equipment, development and review of switching plans and sequencing to support construction projects and maintenance while maintaining electrical service and workplace safety; equipment testing and commissioning
- Direct, as required, investigations of power service issues and recommend solutions
- Respond to emergency calls if an electrical system failure occurs
- Responsible for code compliance of all medium and low voltage wiring and gear in Power Plant
- Develop electrical projects and drawings in support of Utility Plant operations and maintenance
- Recommend and design projects for, repair, replacement or upgrade of Utility Plant electrical equipment and related wiring & devices
- Provide technical assistance within discipline field as required
- Other duties as assigned
What you bring:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline preferred
- A minimum five (5) years of experience with a preference for those with previous experience in electrical utility system operation and maintenance
- A minimum two (2) years of previous supervisory experience
- Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and Microsoft Office

- Must possess a valid U.S. driver’s license/clean driving record
- This position is subject to 24 hr. emergency calls
- Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies

- Salary Range: $90,610-$223,210, annually
- Actual salary offered may vary depending on geography, experience, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors
