JOB DESCRIPTION
Position Title: Human Resources Coordinator/ HR Generalist – 12 Months
Location: Unit Office
Department: Human Resources – Administration
Reports to: Director of Human Resources
FLSA Class: Exempt – Professional
FTE: 1.0
SUMMARY
Reports to the Director of Human Resources for the District. Manages multiple functional areas of Human Resources. May include direct report(s). May oversee the scheduling, assignments, and daily workflow in strategic areas of the department. Responsible for promoting Unit 5 as a positive workplace, and developing an educational environment conducive to a positive learning experience for all Unit 5 students.
DUTIES
- Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with district administrators to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
- Conducts or acquires background checks and employee eligibility verifications.
- Implements new hire orientation and employee recognition programs..
- Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
- Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
- May assist with constructive and timely performance evaluations.
- Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
- Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
- Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
- Participate in labor/management meetings as assigned.
- Attend Board of Education meetings as needed.
- May facilitate training on HR related topics
- May be required to travel overnight on occasion.
- May be required to work varying hours at peak times.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required.
- At least one year of human resource management experience (preferred).
- 2-5 yrs of experience in human resources.
- SHRM-CP or HRCI-PHR certification (or obtained within 90 days of hire)
- K-12 experience (preferred)
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
- Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
- Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
- Proficient with the Google platform or related software.
- Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organizations HRIS and talent management systems.
- Professional image, actions, communications and working relationships are required at all times.
- Able to perform job duties at assigned work location on a regular and consistent basis.
Compensation:
Fully Board Paid Medical, Dental, and Vision available.
The salary range for this position is $55,000 to $69,000 and is based on education and experience.
