Responsibilities

Responsible to establish, lead and sustain HR by aligning HR programs to the vision and strategic direction for the HR CoE in support of Mayo Clinic’s overall vision and strategic goals. The Director of Programs researches, designs, plans, and implements programs, including those that elevate Mayo’s category of one status in their CoE. Models the Mayo of Care by achieving work through multi-disciplinary workgroups. Partners with senior leaders to understand organizational needs/opportunities, drive innovation, challenge the status quo and implement cutting edge solutions advancing business strategic priorities. Responsible for facilitating and executing on HR priorities and the strategic plan, program implementations, resource allocation, ensuring deliverables are met and outcome measures are achieved. Strong collaboration and alignment across all HR CoE(s) are required by ensuring proactive, ongoing communication and approach with positive internal customer relations, keeping ‘One HR’ in mind. Responsible for establishing and maintaining strong customer relationships with internal and external partners. Applies change, risk and resource management principles when needed. The Director of Programs manage individuals and/or teams, directly or indirectly. Optimizes the team and operational performance within the CoE to align with the organizational vision, strategy, values, and external environment. The Director of Programs demonstrates agility and be able to quickly adapt or evolve in response to changing circumstances, breaking down barriers in the workplace to meet changing business needs, advancements, or technologies that are essential for any agile team. Monitors the performance of vendors, ensuring effective outcomes and delivery on contractual agreements.

Benefits Related Functions: Responsible for overseeing and managing the health and welfare plans, including the Mayo Medical Plan, life insurance, dental/vision, long term disability, premium billing etc., at Mayo Clinic. The Health and Welfare Director collaborates with various departments to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements related to health and welfare programs, manages relationships with external vendors, such as insurance providers, brokers, and wellness service providers, to negotiate contracts and ensure effective service delivery, monitors and analyzes health and welfare program data, including utilization, costs, and employee satisfaction, to identify areas for improvement and make data-driven decisions and leads a team of benefits professionals, providing mentorship, performance feedback, and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree with five years of relevant professional experience required. Career experience must include demonstrated human resources knowledge, leadership and management capabilities, and ability to work collaboratively with others as part of an integrated team. Excellent interpersonal relationships with HR, Ops, or other service focused leadership role colleagues, leaders, employees, and team members. Experience must include demonstrated agility in thinking and delivering/execution of work and strategic priorities. Strong knowledge of internal and external trends and ability to design meaningful solutions using critical and systematic thinking skills.

Master’s degree and relevant certifications preferred. Relevant knowledge of programmatic areas and ability to design and lead transformation HR programs. Preferred to have or obtain agile certification. Strong knowledge of internal and external trends and ability to design meaningful solutions, relationship building, team building, organization and critical thinking skills are preferred.
