Job Summary

Under direction from the HRVP, the Director – Development is a mission-driven and results-oriented leader that will develop and execute strategies to strengthen YGS. The Director – Development directs activities that lead to implementation of inclusive and equitable processes for: identifying and cultivating internal talent; learning and development programming; onboarding and new hire orientation; and succession planning and career pathways programming. This role is a key HR leadership position within YGS.

Hiring Range: $97,760-118,824/year

Responsibilities

LEARNING

  • Plans and implements strategies related to training and development of staff. Assesses training needs and works with core groups, departments, branches, camps and other stakeholders to ensure training and learning programs meet needs.
  • Develops or assists with development of and maintains a company-wide training calendar; tracks required initial and refresher training schedules.
  • Drives a culture of compliance with standards, reporting and communications for required trainings i.e. CPR, CAP, Driver Safety, etc.
  • Assists with securing appropriate internal and external training resources. Leads assigned trainings such as supervision training.
  • Creates a fully integrated learning organization for YGS by developing, aligning and delivering organizational development and training activities that will enable YGS to achieve its goals.
  • Ensures consistent application of training standards throughout the organization.
  • Builds flexibility and adaptability into courses and programs and adjusts programs as business needs change.
  • Manages and optimizes organizational use of our Learning Management System to update knowledge and skill- base of employees.

DEVELOPMENT

  • Develop and implement a system of support for YGS employee life cycle to include supports for career growth, development and succession planning.
  • Develops a cadre of expert coaches, facilitation and other development resources that can be used for leadership and individual development.
  • Designs and develosp career development experiences such as job rotation and job-shadowing opportunities to support employee growth and development.
  • Collaborates with business unit leaders and HR leaders to create and implement strategies for assessing and developing key talent.
  • In partnership with HR shared services, oversee the performance review process for all YGS employees to include goal setting, mid-year reviews, final performance reviews, and personal development plans.
  • Oversees all aspects of onboarding including staff orientation, and training, including overall schedule, procedures, trainer recruitment, administration, training evaluations, and related record keeping.

RETENTION

  • Develops and implements retention strategies and plans.
  • Direct employee surveys (annual, pulse, onboarding and off boarding, cultural, etc.) and analyze results with Business Partners for coordinated support with appropriate leaders to develop and monitor improvement strategies.

TEAM LEADERSHIP

  • Manage team’s operating budget, according to YGS budget guidelines.
  • Responsible for planning and development, staffing, budgeting, managing expense priorities, performance requirements for learning and development team and deliverables.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment. The HR Generalist role will require commuting to centers/program sites, partnering with team members and YGS leaders.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds.

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are typically Monday through Friday, typically 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Evening and weekend work will be required as job duties demand.

TRAVEL

This is a regional role supporting multiple locations in the Seattle area. Reliable transportation to support frequent travel within King County required.

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience in human resources related to Recruitment and Hiring, Employee Engagement and Learning & Development.
  • Experience managing LMS administration and reporting.
  • Keen attention to detail, process driven, strong analytical skills and the ability to manage and manipulate large quantities of data.
  • Proven track record of managing multiple competing deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Must be comfortable speaking in front of large groups and working with all levels of an organization.
  • Must have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite, (e.g. Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelors or Masters Degree in Human Resources Management or related field
  • 2+ years of supervisor experience
  • Experience working with UltiPro/UKGPro and iCIMS
  • HR experience in a childcare, social services, or nonprofit environment
  • Ability to speak any language in addition to English.
