What You’ll Do
- Assist Employers and their potentially affected workers who experience layoffs and closures (reactive services) or need services to avert layoffs and closures (proactive services)
- The expectation is that you will build successful partnerships and work collaboratively with the local partners (county staff) of your assigned counties/local workforce areas as well as employers in those areas
- Each Account Executive will cover approximately 20-25 counties in a geographical area. You may serve as backup to your peers in other geographical areas as needed
- Research layoffs and closures
- Outreach to employers
- Establish rapport, and nurture on-going relationships with partners and impacted employers
- Attend local partner meetings
- Organize and lead initial employer meetings where you promote RR services
- Present the standardized RR PowerPoint Presentation to dislocated workers at RR Reemployment Sessions
- Assist with resume and interviewing workshops, job fairs and hiring events as needed
- Follow the RR Delivery Process
- Provide SharedWork Ohio guidance to employers who have an approved plan
- Case management and data entry
- Other duties as assigned
Necessary Skills:
- Strong verbal communication, public speaking, presentation delivery, strong written skills, navigate a computer and technology, team player, multitasker
Schedule:
- T his is currently a hybrid position
- We serve the needs of the employer who may require our services outside of the standard working hours of Monday through Friday from 7am – 6pm
- You may need to flex your hours at certain times to remain at 40 hours per week. Overtime/Comp time must be approved in advance
- Rapid Response services are offered virtually and in person based on the needs of the employer
- Requires 2 days in office per week. This may be a combination of your headquarter location and/or in the field while working with employers. Sometimes you will be in the field more than twice a week depending on the needs of the employers you serve
- Office location is assigned at either an OhioMeansJobs center or a State-owned facility
Travel:
- Employees must reside in Ohio and be within a reasonable distance of their assigned work location to respond to workplace reporting requirements
- Travel is required for this position
- You will need to provide your own transportation as needed to provide services to employers in your coverage area (and sometimes outside of your normal coverage area)
- Mileage is reimbursable. On occasion you may be asked to assist with other projects/duties inside or outside of your normal reporting locations
- Overnight travel maybe required
Challenges:
- Rapid Response is a high-profile program and gets the attention of the media, the Director, the Governor, etc.
- We provide services based on employer needs and may include short notice, long days, and frequent travel
- You may encounter upset employers and their workers who are facing layoffs, sometimes unexpectedly
- You may get asked questions that you legally cannot answer, and you must refer them to the appropriate person/unit/phone number/etc.
- Each day may not look or feel like the previous/next day. Flexibility is key
Qualifications
The ideal candidate must have and identify the following in their application:
Option 1 :
- At least 18 months experience in state & federal regulations governing implemented training &/or employment programs
- AND at least 18 months experience in public relations
- AND at least 12 months experience in labor market data & employment trends
- AND at least 6 months experience in operation of computer terminal &/or personal computer
- AND must provide own transportation
OR Option 2 :
- The equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above.
NOTE: For Account Executive positions in the Veterans Services program area preference shall be given first to qualified service-connected disabled veterans and if no such person is available, then to qualified eligible persons, per Title 38, United States Code, Section 4104.

Pay Information
This position is in the State of Ohio’s OCSEA Pay Schedule, Pay Range 31. Unless required by legislation or union contract, starting salary will be the minimum salary of that pay range (step 1, currently $25.45 per hour). These ranges provide a standardized pathway for pay increases. With continued employment, new hires move to the next step in the range after 6 months and annually thereafter. Cost of Living Adjustments increase wages in these ranges each fiscal year. The current step progression wages are in the table below.
