Office of Employee & Business Services

This position is held within the Office of Employee and Business Services (OEBS). The Office of Employee and Business Services (OEBS) manages the agency’s administrative services, including human resources, facility operations and organizational development. OEBS and its component bureaus support the primary goal of the ODJFS by providing continuous, accurate and timely administrative services to the program areas within the department. OEBS’s customers include all ODJFS employees, clients, service providers, county agencies, and the public. What You’ll Do

This position manages, designs and coordinates all building maintenance, construction, space management, and safety functions for the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services. As most sites are maintained through leases, this coordination typically involves serving as the main point-of-contact with the lessor , vendors, other State agencies, ODJFS employees, and management. This position will also supervise assigned Business Services staff.

Some examples of common projects/tasks performed are:

  • Making recommendations for hire
  • Assigning work and providing direction and feedback
  • Establishing goals and monitoring and evaluating performance
  • Approving / disapproving leave
  • Recommending disciplinary actions
  • Coordinating large employee moves
  • Monitoring and managing budgets
  • Responding to employee inquiries and requests
  • Maintaining accurate drawings of JFS sites through an AutoCAD system
  • Implementing office space needs (furniture reconfiguration, space planning and design)
  • Overseeing the software and processes to accomplish and communicate all the foregoing tasks

You will work with various electronic systems including, but not limited to:

  • OAKS (the State of Ohio’s administrative system)
  • AutoCAD
  • Spreadsheets
  • Word-processing
  • Databases
  • Email
  • Facility management software

Schedule

Monday – Friday 8:00AM – 5:00PM (FLEX) Hybrid. Individual projects may require flexible working hours.

Travel

You will travel outside of your headquarter office as needed, approximately 25 to 35 percent of the time, covering all ODJFS State sites ensuring the proper management of each building. Overnight travel could be required. ODJFS Fleet vehicles are available for travel use.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate must have and identify the following in their application:

Option 1:

  • Completion of undergraduate core program in business administration;
  • AND 2 yrs. exp. in business management.

Or Option 2:

  • 4 yrs. exp. in business or public administration.

Or Option 3:

  • Equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above.

Pay Information

This position is in the State of Ohio’s E1 Pay Schedule, Pay Range 12. Unless required by legislation or union contract, starting salary will be the minimum salary of that pay range (step 1, currently $29.49 per hour). These ranges provide a standar dized pathway for pay increases. With continued employment, new hires move to the next step in the range after 6 months and annually thereafter. Cost of Living Adjustments increase wages in these ranges each fiscal year. The current step progression wages are in the table below.
