There are two positions available; you need to only apply once to be considered for both positions. We are accepting applications for two Financial Analyst positions within the Office of Financial Management, headquartered at the James Rhodes State Office Tower, 30 East Broad Street, 11th floor, Columbus, Ohio 43215.

Applicants that apply to this posting will be assigned to one or more of the following Revenue and Recovery Teams:

  • Revenue Reporting Team: processes all revenue for the department via monitoring and processing electronic and physical payments. Coordinates with internal and external stakeholders on patient accounts.
  • Insurance Billing Team: oversees the claims processing for regional psychiatric hospitals (RPH). Contract management with insurance companies. Supports outpatient community support networks (CSN). Processes and prepares logs for Medicaid and Disproportionate Share Hospital (DSH) Audit.
  • Medicare Billing Team: oversees the claims processing for regional psychiatric hospitals (RPH). Claim resolution with Medicare Administrative Contractor (MAC). Prepares Medicare Cost Report, Bad Debt Logs.

What You’ll Do:

Under general direction:

  • Examines and/or analyzes accounting records, financial statements and/or other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness and conformance to reporting and procedural standards
  • Reviews and audits accounts receivable for outstanding revenue
  • Investigates insurance denial(s)/rejects and monitors insurance accounts receivable patient insurance claims for all regional psychiatric hospitals
  • Coordinates, monitors and performs accounting functions (e.g., proofs revenue posting and processes into OAKS)
  • Reviews Medicare/Medicaid policies/procedures/regulations published by Centers for Medicare/Medicaid Services (CMS) and state/federal regulations to identify/assess impact on internal policy/procedure and ensure maximum reimbursement and accord with law
  • Reviews/corrects/approves Medicare claims entered into OhioMHAS Billing System and determines if further information is necessary to obtain reimbursement
  • Coordinates collection efforts on delinquent accounts, accounts, bankruptcies and estate filings
  • Participates in development of new billing information systems
  • Provides training for hospital personnel and investigators and assists in design of documents (e.g., form letters/forms/advisories/instructions/training materials) to obtain information and services from other agencies (e.g., Office of Attorney General, client, Social Workers, representative payees, Ohio Department of Job & Family Services (ODJFS)
  • Performs miscellaneous related tasks
  • Writes adjustment orders for accounts
  • Coordinates pre-authorizations of insurance
  • Balances payments, posts to system & coordinates discrepancies, using Medicare online system to verify and make adjustments
  • Performs other duties as requested

Currently operating under a hybrid schedule. Two days in-office per week, subject to change due to operational need.

Qualifications
Completion of undergraduate core program in business administration, accounting, finance or related field; 6 mos. exp. or 6 mos. trg. in accounting &/or finance to include an intermediate level of experience in spreadsheet software.

-Or 30 mos. exp. or 30 mos. trg. in accounting &/or finance to include an intermediate level of experience in spreadsheet software.

-Or 12 mos. exp. as Financial Associate, 66561.

-Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above.

NOTE: Successful completion of the Fiscal Academy may be substituted for 4 mos. of required accounting/fiscal experience referenced in this portion of the minimum qualifications.
