Nature of Work: Contributes to the maintenance and upkeep of the Colorado Avalanche ice sheet at Ball Arena. Will also be part of the game day operations helping move nets, shoveling, and squeegeeing excess water.
Examples of work performed:
- Working with the Head Ice Technician to help build and maintain the sheet of ice including hose flooding, edging, shoveling, and patching ice.
- Working overnight to flood, install logos, or cut down the ice after non-hockey events.
- Other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions & Physical Demands:
- Stand, walk, sit, talk/hear, use fingers and hands, handle or feel, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, reach with hands and arms, and taste or smell, up to 70% of the time.
- Moderate to very loud noise.
- Clear vision at 20″ or less, ability to identify and distinguish colors, three-dimensional vision, ability to judge distances and spatial relationships, and ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus.
- Work in colder conditions, near moving mechanical parts, in precarious places, near fumes or airborne particles, and vibration, up to 10% of the time.
- Have body movement and dexterity to complete tasks
- Lift up to 25 lbs. 30% of the time, Lift up to 50 pounds 10% of the time,
Qualifications
- Minimum
- One year working in ice hockey operations.
- Preferred
- Ability to drive an ice resurfacer wither Zamboni or Olympia.
- Previous experience working in either a college or NHL arena working with the ice.
Competencies/Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong attention to detail to see deficiencies in the ice.
- Ability to fabricate wood and other types of objects
- Skill and ability to successfully communicate with supervisor, co-workers and others on a routine basis.
- Ability and skill to safely operate power tools and other equipment.
- Solid knowledge of general safety rules and procedures.
- Ability to work a varied schedule to include weekends, evenings, overnights and holidays as needed.
Compensation
- Base hourly range $18.00-$22.00 per hour
