Job Description
The Department of Health and Environment is currently recruiting for an Immunization Nurse. This position assures effective immunization/disease containment through assessment and analysis of client needs including infants, children, adults, international travelers, refugees, and immigrants.
This position will remain open until filled.
Other duties include:
- Provides comprehensive nursing services; assesses the holistic needs of individuals by incorporating family and environmental factors; collects and documents patient health history; measures and records vital signs; completes health assessments and performs limited exams; obtains, processes, and handles lab specimens; manages, controls and implements medication administration programs; performs minor procedures and treatments within designated area of specialty.
- Completes and submits documentation regarding patient care and condition; reviews quality and effectiveness of services provided and documented by other service providers.
- Provides patients and families with supportive resources; educates patients in areas impacting health, wellness, and daily living activities; develops and provides specialized health training and education to staff.
- Provides case management, care coordination, referral and follow-up to individuals and/or families; evaluates outcomes, effectiveness of plans, and makes changes as necessary.
*Registered Nurses hired for the Department of Health and Environment on or after December 1, 2021 will be eligible for a sign-on bonus of $2,500.00. Sign-on bonuses will be paid in the following increments:
- Employee will receive up to 50% of the bonus upon completion of New Employee Orientation. The employee must be employed when the incentive is paid, and it will be paid on the first pay date following the pay period in which it was earned.
- Employee will receive up to 50% of the bonus after successful completion of their introductory period. The employee must be employed when the incentive is paid, and it will be paid on the first pay date following the pay period in which it was earned.
- Employee will receive any remaining portion of the bonus after successful completion of one year of employment. Employee must be employed when bonus is paid, and it will be paid on the first pay date following the pay period in which it was earned.
Job Requirements
High school or equivalent and a Vocational, Associate’s, or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or other Nursing program that meets the requirements for the Registered Nurse license are required. Licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Kansas is required. A valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record is required.
Within sixty (60) days of hire, employees must produce proof of immunization, proof of immunity, proof that immunization is medically contraindicated, submit a written objection to immunization based upon a sincerely held religious belief, or receive vaccination for the following: Measles, Mumps, and Rubella (MMR); Tetanus Diphtheria and Acellular Pertussis (TDAP); and Varicella (Chickenpox).
One year of nursing experience is preferred. Bilingual candidates preferred.
