Citi Ventures is seeking a an In-Business Risk & Control Manager VP/C13
to drive a broad range of in-business operational activities and ensuring effective risk management practices are in place across the Citi Ventures business.
The role sits within the internal Operations, Governance, Risk & Control function within the Citi Ventures organization and presents a unique opportunity to work within and learn more about the Venture Investing space. The role will work in partnership with various Citi functions, including Finance and Risk and Control and Audit partners, to ensure execution of a consistent and robust control environment. The role will also provide integral ad hoc support for Citi Ventures Investment Portfolio Operations and Third-Party Management activities.
How You Will Contribute
Internal Risk & Control and Governance:
- Support the Operations, Governance and Risk and Control function within Citi Ventures and provide broad based support with Risk and Control and Governance requests and activities, including the Citi Ventures Manager’s Control Assessment (MCA), Risk Governance Framework, Business Review Control Committee reporting and analytics and the management of internal policies and procedures and product program procedures
- Coordinate and partner with Finance Risk and Control teams to build best-in-class processes and controls
- Manage the implementation of the Manager’s Control Assessment (“MCA”) to identify, manage and mitigate risks and perform ongoing monitoring to ensure internal controls are functioning properly, identifying any control gaps, and recommending control enhancements as needed
- Drive proactive and timely record updates as well as identification, management, and oversight of issues/findings across Citi Ventures in line with firm requirements
- Identify thematic root causes, underlying issues and facilitating the effective remediation of findings/gaps/issues/CAP/EUC management
- Responsible to draft issues, corrective action plans and milestones; define success criteria for each issue including artifacts/deliverables to support issue validation/resolution
- Provide periodic issue status updates to group leadership including escalations/ emerging risks, and actionable items in the risk and controls environment.
- Influence colleagues to identify and adopt best practices for issue management
- Liaise within the organization to ensure connectivity with enterprise-wide issue management efforts to enhance Citi’s safety and soundness
- Focus on continuous control improvements across all areas to ensure continued improvement of the control framework in an efficient, cost effective, streamlined, and value-add manner
Third-Party Management & Risk & Control:
- Support in-business compliance with Citi Third Party Risk Management requirements across Citi Ventures, including support for Citi Ventures Business Activity Owners (BAOs) as needed, providing guidance regarding Third Party Risk Assessment Process (TP-RAP) and ongoing Supplier monitoring requirements and liaising with external Suppliers and internal partners such as Citi Third Party Utility and Citi Global Sourcing to identify, escalate, and remediate any gaps.
- Execute Purchase Order requests as needed and facilitate invoice payment process and resolution of invoicing related issues as needed.
- Liaise with Citi Ventures Managers and Citi Global Non-Employee Staffing Office as needed to facilitate onboarding and offboarding requirements for Non-Employee contractors
Citi Ventures Portfolio Operations:
- Support the Citi Ventures team with the creation of senior management updates and presentations and strategic and performance management activities
- Managing select administrative and development activities for the group, including employee onboarding and liaising with broader finance team
- Support Citi Ventures Investment Portfolio Operations as needed including back-up support for wire process
What We Are Looking For
- 5+ years experience in a Risk & Controls, Governance, Audit, Finance, Compliance, Strategy or Consulting role
- Venture Investing knowledge a plus
- Strategic thinker with strong analytical skills (a must) and the ability to translate complex concepts in a concise manner
- Openness to challenge and continuously challenging the status quo
- Ability to set priorities and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast paced, highly matrix, dynamic environment
- Self-motivated, highly adaptive, and able to work well under high stress
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
Education:
- Bachelor’s/University degree or equivalent experience, potentially Master’s degree
