Job Purpose
The Inventory Control Manager is responsible for performing a variety of warehouse functions including but not limited to maintaining inventory, providing guidance to day warehouse employees in the areas of receiving products, picking products, manifesting products and loading products. This position will have regular interfacing with all departments, especially Sales and Transportation.
Key Responsibilities
The Inventory Control Manager will be assigned duties, based on organizational needs and priorities.
- Walk cooler each morning to assess damaged product and report all damaged food to the Sales team for disposition.
- Run Inventory Stock Status report each morning to check for variances in the inventory: over-under, weight issues and box counts.
- Investigate and review the cause of out-of-balance and follow up on next step to rectify including:
- Billing error – work with the sales associate and accounting to correct the billing error
- Receiving error – contact the receiving department and resolve the issue, then notify and work with the Accounting Manager to fix any PO discrepancy
- Once resolved, make the inventory adjustments. After the adjustment is made, update the Stock Status so that the inventory reads correctly for Sales team
- Any discrepancies found will follow protocol in order to be in company compliance
- Work with buyers daily to verify needed transfers, from cold storage to cold storage, in house fresh to frozen if need be; and code changes for existing product
- Update the inventory register throughout the day when transfers or adjustments have been made, ensuring the inventory counts are correct during the day
- Begin Cycle counting the coolers which by categories
- Always check code dates when counting a category and notify the buyer responsible for that group if any product is getting too old and needs to be pushed out or frozen
- Walk through and create an old age list and give to Sales team once a week
- Maintain a clean, efficient and safe warehouse daily
- Be knowledgeable of all state laws
- Open and close warehouse and security system
- Organize P/O’s to be received and assign them
- Perform duties of Warehouse Manager and other tasks as needed

- Five or more years of experience working within distribution center inventory.
- Strong PC skills: Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Database
- Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) Certification preferred
- Must be properly trained and licensed in the operation of powered industrial equipment as appropriate
- Effective interpersonal and oral communication skills; Must be able to demonstrate the ability to communicate and effectively lead other.
