**We are accepting Work Against applicants that need up to six (6) months of Income Maintenance Caseworker II experience.**

Potential for Telework/Remote options may be considered based on training, quality assurance, performance, and/or business needs.

Open Recruitment until Filled. This position is located in the Emergency Rental Utility Assistance Program (ERAP) in the Economic Services Section.

Examples of Duties
This position is assigned to the Economic Services Section of the Cumberland County Department of Social Services and will primarily serve in the area of Emergency Rental/Utility Assistance Program. The employee may also serve in the areas of Refugee Assistance and/or Energy Assistance. This position will serve as a lead worker over a unit consisting primarily of Income Maintenance Caseworkers. The worker may also perform the same eligibility determination functions as the Income Maintenance Caseworker I, II, or III. The purpose of these programs is to provide assistance to low-income families.
Good time management and organizational skills is necessary. The caseworker must be able to meet deadlines for several types of actions including applications, reviews, and changes in circumstance. Ability to work under pressure is essential as applications are especially time sensitive, and applicants often have an urgent need for assistance.

The caseworker must be human services oriented and possess the ability to interact well with supervisors, co-workers, and clients in a professional manner. The ability to work in a team environment is essential. This position performs other related duties as required or assigned.
This worker must respond to disasters as needed in accordance with The Cumberland County DSS policy, in the event of a natural or man-made disaster.
Minimum Qualifications
PREFERRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: Graduation from a four-year accredited college or university and related customer service experience and two years of Income Maintenance Caseworker experience OR two years of Income Maintenance Caseworker experience in a NC DSS agency.

MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Two years of experience as an Income Maintenance Caseworker; OR an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Considerable knowledge of the Food and Nutrition Program/areas of assignment. General knowledge of all agency and community programs and services which could affect the client/applicant. Good mathematical reasoning and computational skills. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret rules, regulations, and procedures. Ability to communicate with clients/applicants, the public at large, and public officials to obtain data, and to explain and interpret rules, regulations, and procedures. Ability to instruct and to evaluate the work of lower level employees. Ability to perform caseworker functions within structured time frames.

This position will require assisting in emergency and/or disaster situations.
