Main Purpose of the job:
Effective and consistent running of the conveyors, auto palletizers and all other equipment in the Palletizing room. Always working to achieve zero production downtime through properly operating machinery and consistently completing assigned preventative maintenance tasks. Ensuring you achieve the desired results in terms of Quality, Safety, Hygiene and Waste. This will be achieved through having the knowledge and understanding of all machinery in the department and products they handle. Attention to detail and always operating within the required parameters of your machines.
Job Description
Role and Activity
• Ensure palletizing area is clean, always organized and operating under factory standards.
• Complete assigned Master Sanitation Schedule.
• Correctly label finished goods pallets with correct SKU, quantity and batch
• Adjust pallet induction system to ensure production is tracked under correct process order
• Record pallet information of Palletizing sheet
• Maintain the operation of the labeler and stretch wrapper
• Ensure effective hand over with the next shift, all faults and issues reported
• To ensure production meets targeted outputs through effective control of the manufacturing process
• To communicate effectively with the entire team, including production and maintenance
• Ensure health and safety requirements are fully met and a positive safety culture is maintained throughout the department
• Ensure you walk the talk always using the safety, quality and productivity mindset, attend to the issues as and when they happen

MAJOR DUTIES,RESPONSIBILITIES and EXPECTATIONS:
- Must be able to correctly start up the auto palletizing machines. This includes: verifying that all safety mechanisms are working properly; surveying area conditions; making sure that tier sheets and empty pallets are available; perform a dry run to ensure all mechanisms are functional; check upstream and downstream conveyors; and notify production that you are ready to receive product.
- Monitor all cameras for issues, jams, and machine and conveyor faults.
- Divert damaged or low quality cases or bundles (anything that the auto palletizer cannot palletize) to the jackpot to be reworked by production.
- Monitor the outfeed conveyors for each palletizer.
- Load slip sheet pallets onto the infeed belt keeping a constant supply available to the auto palletizing machines.
- Load stacks of empty pallets onto the pallet stacker keeping a constant supply available to the auto palletizing machines.
- Inspect the quality of pallets for any major defects that would hinder the palletizing process before placing them on the pallet stacker.
- Monitor the outfeed belt for empty slip sheet pallets.
- Unload incoming pallet trucks. Correctly and accurately complete the pallet quality checklist.
- Periodically check the tags on the finished product pallets for correct labeling. This includes item number, lot number, description, quantity, and Julian date.
- Accurately and legibly, fills out all paperwork and checklists needed for operations (including daily operation checklists, lube maps, BOS Sheets, etc.)
- Perform hourly checks and complete any required checklists (check conveyors for wood pieces and clean as necessary).
- Maintain good housekeeping in all Palletizing areas (including break room, control room, auto-palletizing machines, platforms, tagging room, shrink wrappers, slip sheet and pallet replenishment areas, etc.)
- Comply with and monitor all GMP and Safety Regulations.
- Must be able to work with computers and understand and learn basic computer technology (Imrex, Lorenz Pan Auto Palletizing Computer Interface, Wonderware software system) spreadsheets, word-processing documents, etc.
- Know and understand department metrics of quality, reliability and safety.
- You are responsible for your performance, efficiencies, waste, quality, safety, results.
- Lead Pre-Shift meetings as necessary and conduct SHOs
- Ensure SHO Boards are current and up to date
- Understand NCE, Goal Alignment, GLOBE and SAP
- Know the emergency evacuation route and where to assemble
- Participate in committees, improvement teams, and operational meetings
- Ability to problem solve through use of Go-See-Think-Do and DMAIC projects as assigned
- Follow, monitor and understand all GMP/HACCP/QMS and product safety regulations.
- Keep waste to a minimum.
- Swipe in and out on time. Be at your work area as scheduled and on time to pre and post shift meetings.
- Stay focused at all times! Make timely decisions. Find root cause and solution to problems.
- Communicate with team and coach. Keep them informed of any issues.

The pay scale for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The pay scale disclosed below has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Dreyer’s Grand Ice Cream, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The pay scale for employees currently in this role is $24.27 per hour. A good faith estimate of the range the company will pay for successful applicants for the current opening is $24.27 per hour.
