Provide Information and Referral/Assistance (I&RA) and Options Counseling to ensure individuals who strive to remain in their home/community with supports and in home services are able to with the aging information, option and benefit counseling offered by this position. I & RA and Options counseling shall be available to Butler, Harvey and Sedgwick County consumers that meet the eligibility criteria. This position will provide call center and administrative support for the Kansas Aging and Disability Resource Call Center (KADRC) to include duties as assigned.
Provide I&RA and Options Counseling, provide follow up services for consumers, meet with walk-in consumers in the office to deliver services, communicate with the general public, caregivers and professionals.
- Consumer focused providing factual unbiased information and assistance to meet consumer needs.
- Communication proficiency via telephone, email, video conferencing and direct contact with public, aging and health professionals and department staff.
- Document all contacts and complete required documentation for billing to meet required time frame and adhere to established policy.
- Assist with outreach activities as needed, such as information booths at community events.
- Maintain proficiency in Microsoft Office, Management Information System, AIRS.
Direct Consumer Counseling
- Provide backup support for Senior Health Insurance Counseling (SHICK) and assist during the Medicare open enrollment period.
- Options and benefit counseling.
- Assist with referrals, complete intake for internal and external programs.
- Maintain confidential information in accordance with HIPAA guidelines.
- Submit required documentation in the agency’s electronic record Management Information System – (MIS) and the State’s required system to meet required time frame and adhere to established county and state policies.
Provide Support to the Kansas Aging and Disability Resource Call Center (KADRC)
- Answer phone calls and respond factually and efficiently to the needs of the caller.
- Complete consumer intakes for a variety of programs (ex. CARE, Medicaid waiver programs, Administrative Case Management, Senior Care Act, Older Americans Act).
- Complete accurate and timely data entry for calls and intakes, including data entry into the electronic record Management Information System (MIS).
Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma. Two (2) years’ experience in office based and/or data entry and experience in human service with emphasis on older adults and/or persons with disabilities. Complete SHICK certification and AIRS training within first year of hire. Computer skills needed in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel.
Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a Social Services related field. One (1) year experience in the field of aging or physical disabilities, preferably an Area Agency on Aging or Physical Disabilities provider system. AIRS, Information and Referral/Assistance Certification. SHICK certification. Bilingual in English and a language other than English.
