General Description / Primary Purpose
The Information Security Analyst I, under the direction of a Manager or above, analyzes information security systems and application logs for events. Assists in the design, development and implementation of departmental processes and/or programs. Assignments are routine in nature, require close supervision and largely follow established procedures and guidelines. Recommends policies and procedures to ensure effective coordination of departmental programs.
Essential Duties
Job Function
-Completes tasks designed to ensure security of the organization’s systems and information assets.
– Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role.
-Works with individual users to determine needs of departments.
– Investigates alerts and follows established procedures to remediate conditions that do not follow approved policies and guidelines.
– Provides technical assistance and support for incoming information security queries and issues related to computer systems, software, and hardware.
– Reviews violations of computer security procedures and discusses proper procedures with violators to ensure violations are not repeated.
-Works collaboratively with university staff to ensure program’s success.
– During declared campus emergencies, this position may be required to perform specific job-related duties at a designated off campus location or place of residence.
-This position is designated as a Tier 2 respondent for designated campus emergencies and events. In the event of a declared campus emergency, the position incumbent will make every effort to return to campus when directed. During declared campus emergencies, this position may be required to perform specific job-related duties at a designated off campus location or place of residence.

Required Qualifications
A Master’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university in a directly related area of specialization; or a Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university in a directly related area of specialization and one to two years of experience directly related to the job functions.
