Job Announcement
This position helps support our mission of serving the people of Fairfax County at our state-of-the-art Emergency Communications Center.
Reporting to the Assistant Director of Support Services, leads activities of all information technology projects within the department. Supervises professional level IT subordinates and provides direction to align technology with the agency’s strategy, priorities, and business needs. Provides technical leadership to the department; directs and assures implementation, operation and maintenance of all department systems, in coordination with centralized county Department of Information Technology (DIT). Oversees and coordinates the processes of department planning, decision making, and troubleshooting for the Department of Public Safety Communications.

Employment Standards
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Possession of a bachelor’s degree in computer science, or closely related field; plus five years’ experience in systems design, development, and maintenance in a large information systems environment, including supervisory experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Five or more years of IT supervisory experience.
- Excellent communication skills, strong experience working with ethnically diverse populations and interdisciplinary stakeholders.
- Strong ability to build, maintain and promote collaborative connections with internal and external partners
- Ability to work independently and lead interdisciplinary teams and projects.
- Five or more years of experience with problem identification and resolution, needs assessment, cost benefit analysis, procurement, contracts, and contractors.
- Five or more years of direct experience managing budgets.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Job is generally sedentary in nature, and requires walking, standing, sitting, kneeling, reaching, bending, and climbing stairs; may be required to lift or carry up to 25 lbs. Uses hands to grasp, handle, or feel. Visual acuity is required to read data on a computer monitor; ability to operate keyboard driven equipment and computer and use of touchscreen. Position frequently communicates and must be able to exchange accurate information with other verbally and in writing. Generally, works in an office environment yet may occasionally be required to perform job duties outside of the typical office setting and an alternate locations. All duties may be performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
