Position Summary
Responsible for assisting the Director of Information Technology (IT) with design, implementation and maintenance of the Sandia Resort & Casino/Sandia Pueblo LAN/WAN. (Local Area Network/Wide Area Network).
Supervision Exercised
Reports to the Director of Information Technology (IT).
Major Duties and Responsibilities
- Establishes and implements Information Technology (IT) department and overall organizational policies, procedures, and standards and ensure their compliance.
- Provides on-going formal reports to the Director of Information Technology (IT) regarding the status of network security, network software versions, data integrity, corporate anti-virus and disaster recovery.
- Plans and coordinates installation and maintenance for Sandia Casino, Sandia Pueblo LAN/WAN.
- Provides network and system training of other Information Technology (IT) Specialists, Information Technology (IT) Technicians and casino employees.
- Manage sWindows systems to ensure revisions, changes, and updates to operating systems and servers and insures compliance with system of internal controls and current gaming regulations.
- Maintains Cisco Core Network Software and Hardware and ensure 100% uptime of network devices.
- Maintains Network Security by ensuring procedures are implemented and enforced.
- Formally document updates and changes for Sandia Casino, Sandia Pueblo server and network topology.
- Responsible for all enterprise backup systems and ensure 100% compliance with system backup and recovery internal controls.
- Will adhere to all Information Technology (IT) Internal Controls and Standard Operating procedures.
- Ensures that all networks and server systems are available at all times, and takes proactive steps to achieve 100% uptime.
- Will annually review network and active directory security with management and revise security as necessary.
- Ensures patch management of critical software, hardware, definition updates are tested and implemented in a timely manner.
- Conducts regularly scheduled department stand ups.
- Performs other duties as required.

- Working knowledge of the following server operating systems and applications: Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Microsoft Exchange Server, Veritas BackupExec & Linux.
- Working knowledge of the following network hardware: Cisco Systems (Switches, Routers, Firewall) & Network Security Appliances.
- Working knowledge of the following applications: Microsoft Office Suite of Applications, XP desktop operating systems.
Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications, Education and Experience
Required:
- Associates degree in Information Systems, CIS (Computer Information Systems), Computer Science, Information Technology (IT) or related field and two (2) years’ experience to include the following:
- Coordinating technical projects,
- Administering a Windows virtual server environment,
- Administering a data storage environment,
- Administering a Cisco network infrastructure
- Server backups.
- LAN/WAN design and documentation.
Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling four (4) years may substitute for the required education and experience.
Preferred:
- MCP, CCNA or other professional certification.
Licensing Status
- Must be able to obtain and maintain the required Gaming License.
- Will require a post-offer, pre-employment and random drug screening.
Working Conditions
- Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
- No or very limited physical effort required.
- No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
