Overview
The Infrastructure Technician provides support for the administrative and show networks for the McCormick Place complex. Infrastructure Technicians provide end-user PC hardware and software application trouble resolution, along with support for other IT assets onsite.
This role will pays a wage of $25 to $35.

McCormick Place located in downtown Chicago is the largest and most flexible convention center in North America., With over 2.6 million square feet of exhibition space, the campus proudly hosts some of the world’s largest and most prestigious conventions, meetings, and trade shows, welcoming approximately 3 million visitors to Chicago every year.
Responsibilities
- Activity completes tasks to ensure the maintenance of network infrastructure in a status that fully meets the administrative and event capacity and performance requirements.
- Troubleshoots and resolves issues with the network infrastructure including controllers, access points, packet shapers, switches, routers, software, etc.
- Works with show management and exhibitors to identify, troubleshoot and resolve issues.
- Logs any issues or abnormalities for tracking of trending issues and quality control.
- Makes recommendations to Infrastructure manager for improvements in equipment, software, and processes to maintain and enhance the current network environment and to meet changing customer needs.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Monitor network performance and troubleshoots problem areas as required.
- Oversee network traffic along with LAN and WAN installation.
- Inspect LAN and WAN infrastructure for problems.
- Design and install high-functioning computer network connections including cabling.
- Address and solve system failures to increase network uptime.
Qualifications
- 1-3 years’ experience in a technical position.
- A degree in information technology or a computer science field, along with a good knowledge of networking protocols and services such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VPN..
- Proficiency with a MAC and Windows operating systems.
- Excellent knowledge of computers (PC, Laptop and Mac) and peripherals.
- Knowledge of Zendesk (ticketing), JAMF (Apple device management), and Sophos (endpoint & email security) platforms a plus.
- Flexibility to work a variety of shifts.
- Available to work overtime and possible weekends.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- A+ Customer Service a must.
