Why does the job exist?

This position listens to the needs of inmates and their families and works with officials to resolve practical problems in the prison system.

How does it get done?

* Reviews, investigates and responds to inmate grievances.
* Makes recommendations to the facility Wardens on inmate disciplinary appeals.
* Provides inmates with information and resources, promoting open lines of communication.
* Investigates concerns as necessary.

Ideal Candidate

Experience in the following:
* Social Work/Social Worker Assistant
* Community Coordination
* Case Management
* Conducting administrative investigations
* Tracking reviewing and responding to grievances.

Minimum Qualification

Associate’s degree in Social Sciences or Human Services and two (2) years of experience as a social worker or community coordinator and/or social worker assistant. Substitutions Apply. See Substitution Table below.

Employment Requirements

This position is designated as safety sensitive. Employment is subject to pre-employment and random testing, in accordance with all terms and conditions of federal and state law, rules and regulations in relation to alcohol and/or drug testing. Pre-employment background investigation is required and is conditional pending results. Must possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in an adult prison environment, which includes daily contact with and supervision of inmates. Willingness to work in a correctional facility, may be required to work odd hours, overtime, holidays, and weekends.
