Senior Data Architect – Google Cloud (Remote role in USA)

In this role you will be helping to grow the Rackspace Cloud data practice. You will be the expert in the region and support the delivery of our data projects on Google Cloud. Our Data Architects are experienced technologists with technical depth and breadth, along with strong interpersonal skills. In this role, you will work directly with customers and our team to help enable innovation through continuous, hands-on, deployment across technology stacks, will serve as the Data SME for our customers and be the focal touchpoint in engagements.

This is a solutions pre-sales role that places significant emphasis on consultative engagements with a wide range of customer stakeholders; Business Owners, Business Analytics, Data Engineering teams, Application Development, End Users and Management teams.

Successful candidates will be adept at evangelizing the Rackspace Data Services value proposition – across Professional Services and Managed Services; aligning it to each unique set of customer challenges and articulating the business benefits that can be delivered.

A key aspect of the role is to engage with customers early in their transformation journey to establish Rackspace credentials as a partner that can help assess, plan and execute the required data transformation or modernization.

You Will:

    • Provide technical pre-sales and post-sales support for data and analytics services to prospective and existing customers.
    • Participate in customer-facing meetings to determine business and technical requirements that will be used in developing solutions.
    • Applies advanced knowledge of business acumen, technical knowledge, and solutions principles to a variety of sales opportunities.
    • Articulate value proposition, present product information, and build value throughout the sales process to all departments of the customer’s organization
    • Provide technical product expertise, advise on deployment architectures, and handle in-depth technical questions during sales meetings and calls with the goal to build long-term business relationships and become a trusted advisor.
    • Lead, define and implement end-to-end modern data platforms in support of analytics and AI use cases.
    • Collaborate with enterprise architects, data architects, ETL developers & engineers, data scientists, and information designers to lead identification and definition of required data structures, formats, pipelines, metadata, and workload orchestration capabilities
    • Address aspects such as data privacy & security, data ingestion & processing, data storage & compute, analytical & operational consumption, data modeling, data virtualization, self-service data preparation & analytics, AI enablement, and API integrations
    • Engage in consultative selling to design solutions to meet customer needs. Create architecture diagrams and proposals according to vendor and Rackspace best practices. You will also be responsible for gathering customer requirements, building estimates, SOWs and scope documents for customers.
    • Contribute to sales process improvement, including developing knowledge bases, creating sales tools and mentoring other Solutions Architects

Technical Requirements:

    • 7+ years of solutions engineering experience with a proven track record and experience leading engagements from design to implementation of data analytics solutions.
    • 5+ years working in cloud or multi-server complex environments. Extensive experience with Google Cloud is required.
    • 5+ years’ experience architecting solutions for optimal extraction, transformation and loading of data from a wide variety of traditional and non-traditional sources such as structured, unstructured, and semi-structured using SQL, NoSQL and data pipelines for real-time, streaming, batch and on-demand workloads
    • 3+ years’ experience with analytics/data management strategy formulation, architectural blueprinting and effort estimation of analytics.
    • Strong Spark, SQL, Data Modeling, Data lakehouse concepts.
    • Strong programming / scripting experience using python and scala.
    • Ability to design custom solutions based on the Databases, Data Analytics and AI/Machine Learning services on Google Cloud.
    • Strong experience using Data and AI tools such on Google Cloud such as Spanner, Big Query, Airflow, Dataproc, Snowflake, Databricks, Looker, Tableau, Power BI.
    • Knowledge of software configuration management environments and tools such as JIRA, Git, Jenkins, TFS, Shell, PowerShell, Bitbucket.
    • Experience with Agile development methods in data-oriented projects
    • Certifications in architecture, data engineering and development on Google Cloud.

    • Ability to prioritize deals, training, and initiatives through highly effective time management
    • Excellent problem solving, analytical, presentation, and whiteboarding skills
    • Track record of success dealing with ambiguity (internal and external) and working collaboratively with other departments and organizations to solve challenging problems
    • Strong knowledge of technology and industry trends that affect data analytics decisions for enterprise organizations

Education:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or Business required
    • Experience may substitute for the degree requirement at a rate of 3 years’ experience for 1 year of education.
    • High school diploma or equivalent required

The following information is required by theColorado Equal Pay Transparency Act and applies only to individuals working in the state of Colorado. The anticipated starting pay range of Colorado applicants for this role is $117,000-$188,500.
