Our Building Envelope group provides expert waterproofing and exterior enclosure services to Owners, Architects, and General Contractors. These services include plan review, specification review, mock-up review, onsite water testing, onsite inspections, etc.

Job Description

The Inspector – Building Envelope we are seeking will enjoy the challenge of working within the greater Project Advisory group. This person will support the Building Envelope division in our San Diego, CA office. Project types are most often high-rise commercial, educational, or hospitality structures. Contract sizes range from $10K-$500K and have durations spanning from a few weeks to multiple years. This tremendous opportunity offers significant upside in terms of experience and financial growth. Assist our existing team to continue the rapid growth of the division by expanding the client network and seeking new construction opportunities.

Core Responsibilities

  • Plan review with emphasis on Waterproofing and Building Envelope details including specs, submittals, and RFIs.
  • Occasional participation in predevelopment/preconstruction meetings
  • Onsite inspection of put-in-place waterproofing systems with photo documentation.
  • Observation of building assembly testing, both mock-up or final construction.
  • Technical report writing with use of proprietary software (Inspec).
  • Assistance with training programs for junior staff.
  • Oversight of projects through plan review, inspections, and reporting.
  • Review and research of technical data and manufacturers recommendations.
  • Ensure assignments are executed on-time and on-budget with technical proficiency, accuracy, and professionalism.
  • Manage deadlines, progress, and quality on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Promote safety as a priority both in-house and on-site, in accordance with corporate policy

Position Requirements

  • Able to review and interpret architectural and engineered construction drawings and specifications.
  • Working knowledge of building envelope systems.
  • Able to perform activities on a construction site (i.e. ladders, high elevations, scaffolding, etc.)
  • Experience in delivery of projects on-time and on-budget.
  • Able to communicate effectively (written and verbal) with superiors, co-workers, clients and design teams
  • Travel as required to fulfill position and project responsibilities.

Qualifications

Experience

  • 5+ years experience in AEC industry.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical, construction-related field (i.e.: architecture, construction management, engineering) preferred or relative experience in a related position and/or field.

Position Requirements

  • Energetic about taking on new tasks.
  • Able to prioritize and handle multiple tasks with minimal oversight.
  • Candidates should be familiar with interpreting construction drawings, specifications, submittals, RFI’s, and as-built drawings.
  • Work in a construction setting

Knowledge & Skills

  • Must be able to perform multiple tasks and handle multiple priorities and have the ability to perform exceptionally under high stress conditions.
  • Knowledge of computer operations and standard software packages.
  • Proficiency of the Microsoft Office suite.
  • OSHA-10 or -30 certification preferred

Additional Information

The annualized salary range for this role is $80,000 to $100,000.
