Job Responsibilities
Under general supervision, performs routine and opening inspections for offices, facilities, and/or locations of licensees to ensure compliance with applicable inspection criteria set out in statutes and regulations. Prepares inspection reports immediately after inspections and provides a copy to the licensees. Timely scans inspection documents into the Agency’s software system.
Prepares and issues citations following established guidelines. Clearly and concisely explains to licensees the basis for the citations and corrective actions required. Conducts follow-up inspections and submits and maintains written inspection reports and their results detailing whether corrective action has occurred. Prepares memos of non-compliance and supporting documentation to present to the Investigative Review Committee (IRC).
Conducts complaint based inspections and submits a report of findings and updates into the Agency’s software system. Meets with respondents and witnesses, as necessary, to gather information to present as evidence at hearings. Works closely with the Office of Disciplinary Counsel as needed. Attends meetings and testifies at hearings, as required.
Maintains a high level of professionalism with internal and external customers. Performs other duties as required.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
A high school diploma and work experience that is directly related to the area of employment. A bachelor’s degree may be substituted for the required work experience.
The position works in both an office and field environment. May require extended periods of driving and sitting and may require visiting private facilities that are non-ADA compliant. May need to bend, stoop, kneel, and lift up to 50 lbs. Occasional work outside of normal Agency business hours. Frequent statewide travel and occasional overnight travel. Must have a valid SC Driver’s License and provide a 10-year MVR that complies with State and Agency Fleet guidelines.
