Installation and Commissioning Manager

A Snapshot of Your Day:
Siemens Energy is looking for an Installation and Commissioning Manager (ICM) with hands-on industrial equipment expertise. The ICM is responsible for leading the Installation and Commissioning (I&C) phase of a project, including the continual planning of field service resources against agreed schedules. It will include conducting site briefing / de-brief meetings, interfacing with site personnel, and coordinating the mobilization/demobilization of site personnel. As the ICM, you will keep track of work in progress, collaborate with suppliers, manage risks, and ensure projects are completed per schedule. Additionally, you will make sure that all warranty claims (towards customers, suppliers, etc., and vice versa) are evaluated, negotiated, and settled. The ICM works closely with the Project Managers on their respective projects.

The individual will work with engineering, drafting, supply chain management, manufacturing, quality, shipping, field service coordinators, etc. to ensure the overall scope of supply per the quotation proposals is achieved. The individual will manage large multi-faceted projects and multiple projects at the same time. The candidates will have the opportunity to communicate with all levels of the organization, for example, explaining requirements to skilled craftsmen, technically supporting the scope of supply to other professionals, resolving customer concerns, and reporting to Leadership.

How You’ll Make an Impact:

  • Manage the installation & commissioning (I&C) and warranty claims and activities of a project. Review, plan, and coordinate the project I&C activities that are occurring at the installation site on assigned projects. Provide I&C site status updates to the Customer, Project Manager, and other stakeholders on the site management plan. Coordinate the resolution of any issues on-site with customers, suppliers, and/or Siemens-Energy representatives.
  • Take full ownership of the scope and schedule for the project procurement plan, procurement budget, purchase order requisitions, and purchase orders for the I&C phase of the project. Fully understand the provisions of the contract for the project, regularly apprising functional representatives of salient provisions, and ensuring organizational compliance with all requirements.
  • Develop and maintain the I&C schedule, including identifying the critical path, and also create and manage the project site execution plan, as assigned. Coordinate with the Customers, Region, and factories to assign Technical Field Advisor / Field Service Representative (TFA/FSR) resources to meet the I&C schedule.
  • In alignment with the Project Manager, manages the project through the warranty phase, working with the Commissioning Engineering Team member to address installation, startup, or warranty issues. Evaluate the accuracy and coordinate the resolution of site warranty claims / Fault Reports (FR).

What You Bring:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline
  • Preferred three (3) + years of project management or technical experience in industrial equipment or related industries with applied mechanical skills.
  • Trained in installation, commissioning, and inspection of turbo or reciprocating compressors including internal components (equivalent experience with gas and/or steam turbines would be considered)
  • Technical Knowledge of centrifugal compressors troubleshooting.
  • Experience dealing directly with urgent critical-path project items, milestones, and key project deliverables.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of project management concepts, practices and procedures, and schedule management tools (e.g. MS Project or equivalent)
  • Leadership skills including relentless problem-solving, big-picture focus, complex and linear thinking, effectively working under pressure, and a pleasant personality.
  • Proficiency in the application of computerized systems, including standard business applications (e.g. MS Office)
  • Qualified individuals can clearly and precisely communicate effectively both orally & written. Candidates will prepare & make presentations to any internal /external client level.
  • Candidate should be self-motivated, well-organized to prioritize work, have good listening skills, be able to work independently, and accurately relay information to others.
  • Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.

Specific Job Skills Preferred:

  • Working knowledge of Planview software.
  • Working knowledge of industry standards, such as API, ASME, etc.

Additional Position Requirements:

  • Up to 30% travel on an annual basis is typical.
  • Ability and willingness to travel both domestically and internationally.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license is mandatory.
  • Possession of a current US passport is mandatory.
  • Ability to travel by plane is mandatory.

The base salary range for this position if based in New York is $96,000-$130,000 and the annual incentive target is 10% % incentive based on level) of base salary. Specific offers are determined by various factors, such as experience, skills, certifications, and other business needs. Employees typically do not start at the top of the range, though compensation depends on each individual’s qualifications.
