Snow College is seeking a dedicated student-focused individual to participate in the Pre-Engineering Program. This person should have a track record of mentoring individuals toward success. They should possess dynamic presentation skills and be capable of clear communication in an online and in person classroom environment. Anticipated start date for this position is August 1, 2023.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree (required) or Ph.D. (preferred) in Mechanical Engineering or Civil Engineering or closely related field

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Successful teaching experience preferred
  • Ability to teach foundation level courses in mechanical/civil engineering and closely related fields
  • He or she must have the ability to teach introductory courses in Mechanical Engineering and Civil Engineering.
  • They must possess a student-oriented focus with an ability to inspire the best efforts of students in the classroom, lab, and practicum.
  • They must be proficient in written, oral, presentation, and speaking English. They must be eligible to work legally in the United States.
  • Candidates with experience in curriculum development and design; successful experience working with colleagues and in teams; skills to be an excellent recruiter, advisor, mentor, and connector; or experience working with underrepresented minority students will be given preference.

Major Responsibilities/Duties

Faculty are expected to teach 15 credit equivalencies per semester and assist in student mentoring, recruiting, and placement. Faculty work on a nine-month contract for Fall and Spring semesters. This is a non-research, teaching-focused, tenure-track position. They will teach typical undergraduate courses that prepare students to achieve an associate’s degree with an emphasis in Engineering. They may occasionally teach special topics courses in areas of personal interest. Faculty will help develop online course content to improve the reach of the engineering program. In addition, they will help prepare non-engineering students to matriculate into the engineering program.

They will participate in student recruitment and program marketing. They will advise and mentor mechanical, manufacturing, and civil engineering students. They will also help find employment opportunities for students after the completion of the program.

Faculty will also participate in engineering department growth and improvement as well as faculty development activities and college committee assignments.

  • Teach typical pre-professional mechanical/civil and related engineering courses such as introduction to engineering, statics, strength of materials, dynamics, numerical methods, and programming fundamentals.
  • Advise and mentor entry-level mechanical/civil engineering students.
  • Participate in recruiting efforts
  • Contribute in engineering department expansion
  • Participate in faculty development activities and college committee assignments
