Job Summary:

The Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences (DOVS) has built a world-class reputation for cutting-edge research, compassionate patient care, and hands-on training programs for resident physicians and clinical fellows. We are a collaborative department that puts people first and are looking for a talented, collaborative full-time Online Content Editor to drive our website the next level.

This position plays a key role in improving the functionality and effectiveness of our most important marketing resource, our public website (https://ophth.wisc.edu). This position is responsible for assisting with the strategic redesign and reorganization of our website by planning, organizing and publishing web content, using data to recommend and implement necessary improvements and upgrades, as well as troubleshooting layout and design issues.

The ideal candidate has strong project management and communication skills, is comfortable navigating complex organizational systems, has a keen eye for detail, loves working in a team, is adaptable, and enjoys learning about new marketing technologies and trends. Responsibilities:

Reviews, edits, produces, and troubleshoots content for websites, blogs, and online presence across different platforms. Assists with overall planning for website maintenance, expansion, and reorganization, keeps current on digital trends, and engages in forward thinking about upcoming content needs.

  • 10% Acts as a training and trouble-shooting resource for staff
  • 5% Develops blog and social content based on local programming, events, and educational services
  • 5% Pitches creative online projects which support the unit in its mission and goals and engage the audience

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:
-Experience with website content management software (WordPress preferred)
-Experience with web-based tools and plug-ins, such as form builders and event calendars
-Understanding of project management principles
-Knowledge and understanding of social media best practices and platforms
-Comfort reviewing and analyzing data as part of the decision-making process

Preferred Qualifications:
-Experience in a higher education setting
-Experience in a medical setting

This position may require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location.
