Description
The Cooking/Baking Instructor is a part-time position. The instructor will lead fun and exciting cooking/baking courses. This role involves teaching several different Community Education courses during the evenings and/or weekends. Some courses include Cake Decorating, Holiday Treats, Appetizers for Special Events, preparing a Holiday Meal, Creating a Holiday Cooking Video, and Holiday Cocktails and Tips. Other ideas are welcome as this position can evolve throughout the year. This position reports to the Director, Community Education, Workforce Development, and Testing.
Examples of Duties
- Instruct and assist students on a variety of cooking/baking skills and techniques.
- Demonstrate how to prepare different types of dishes using various tools and equipment.
- Practice proper food safety and hygiene.
- Plan and prepare ingredient lists to teach a small group.
- Lead a class in cooking/baking from beginning to completion.
- Have fun while being creative and encouraging others.

Education and Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience cooking or baking in a professional environment, restaurant, or catering business preferred.
- Have experience working with a wide range of ages and experience levels preferred.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills in a classroom setting.
(A comparable amount of training, education, or experience can be substituted for the minimum qualifications.)
